Srijit Mukherji Reveals How Angelina Jolie’s Suicide Attempt Inspired Killbill Society

Srijit Mukerji’s 2012 film Hemlock Society struck a chord with the audience for how it dealt with the topic of assisted suicide and mental health. The fresh pairing of Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Koel Mullick was also a hit. Now, Srijit has teamed up with Parambrata for the sequel of Hemlock Society, titled Killbill Society. New Delhi, Not many know that Bollywood star and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in “Shekhar Home”, a detective web series inspired by the literary works of Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle. When Sushmita Sen agreed to be part of Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Shekhar Home’… Directed by Srijit Mukerji and Rohan Sippy, the West Bengal-set series is a Hindi adaptation of Sherlock Holmes stories starring Kay Kay Menon as the titular sleuth. Set in the early 1990s, “Shekhar Home” is written by Aniruddha Guha and Niharika Puri with dialogues by Vaibhav Vishal. In one of its six episodes, a black-and-white picture of a young Sen makes a guest appearance. Srijit Mukherji, the noted filmmaker behind films like Begum Jaan and the more recent Shabaash Mithu, is back with a new Hindi web series, Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke. The director has made sure it stands out of the flood of such patriotic shows from the genre with its mostly female cast and pan-India landscape. The show led by Regina Cassandra releases on ZEE5 on Republic Day. The filmmaker has never been open to making remakes and says he would rather do an original no matter the medium, scale or language of the film or show.
