Third hike in 8 days: Staggered fuel price hikes continue as petrol gets dearer by 87 paise, diesel by 91 paise | Business News

Public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) hiked retail petrol and diesel prices on Saturday, marking the third price increase in eight days as they look to offset losses from high international prices amid an unprecedented global energy crisis. The price of petrol rose by 87 paise per litre, while that of diesel was up 91 paise per litre in Delhi, with corresponding changes in other parts of the country. With Saturday’s price hike, petrol prices in Delhi have gone up by Rs 4.77 per litre and diesel by Rs 4.81 since May 15, when the first price increase in over four years was announced. As of Saturday morning, a litre of petrol was priced at Rs 99.51, while that of diesel was at Rs 92.49 in the capital. Fuel prices vary across the country due to differences in state-level taxes. The latest hike follows a 90-paise-per-litre increase on Tuesday, and a Rs 3-per-litre increase on May 15. The Rs 3-per-litre hike in petrol and diesel prices implemented on May 15 had provided some relief to …

Why Michael Vaughan is ‘staggered’ that England head coach Brendon McCullum arrives in country just 5 days before 1st NZ Test on June 4 | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Mar 25, 2026 04:50 PM IST Former England skipper Michael Vaughan said that post the heavy defeat to Australia in the Ashes, he found it staggering that head coach Brendon McCullum wasn’t in the country already in order to watch county cricket and scout talents from there in preparation for the New Zealand test series, set to start in June. “Now we are told there will be a greater emphasis on attention to detail. If that is the case, then Brendon should be here early this summer watching county cricket and meeting people face-to-face to rebuild bridges because a lot of people in the county system were more than happy to see England get royally beaten in Australia and that cannot be right,” Vaughan wrote for his column in The Telegraph. “McCullum is the highest-paid international coach in the world so expecting him to arrive in England earlier than five days before the first Test is surely the bare minimum. Instead he is having a Zoom call with the county directors of …

“I’d Be Staggered If He Doesn’t Play”: Ex-Australia Skipper’s Bold Remark On 3-Test India Star

Former Australia skipper Tim Paine has backed young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and believes that the latter could be very useful to the Indian side in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Jurel has only played three matches and was mainly included in India’s touring party for the five-match Test series in Australia as a backup for regular keeper Rishabh Pant, the 23-year-old impressed during a recent match for India A against Australia A in Melbourne. Jurel caught the eye of Paine when he looked composed contributing scores of 80 and 68 batting at No.6 in the low-scoring MCG contest and the former Australia captain – who coached Australia A in the match – thinks the right-hander will play as a specialist batter in the opening Test of the summer in Perth. “I don’t know if you saw much of the highlights, but after seeing him bat (against Australia A) – even though he’s a wicket-keeper, from what I’ve seen on this tour and from India’s batting in the last couple of months, I’d …

Hardik Pandya’s captaincy saga with the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 has gotten off on the worst possible start. Returning to the franchise of his formative years after a fruitful two-year stint with Gujarat Titans, Pandya’s takeover as captain from MI’s most successful skipper Rohit Sharma has irked fans of the five-time champions. So much so that Pandya has endured boos from the crowd across all three matches thus far, in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and at home at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Loud jeers during the toss against the Rajasthan Royals also prompted a bizarre intervention from presenter and commentator, Sanjay Manjreker, who asked the crowd to “behave”. Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that he was “staggered” by the hostile response from the fans against the star India all-rounder. “The big debate is whether Rohit Sharma will end up back as captain. That has caused a lot of drama here in India. The booing… I have to say, the Indian crowd just loves cricket. I have never heard them boo. I’ve certainly …
