Budaun , Eight people, including seven police personnel were injured after a dispute over the installation of a statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Budaun district escalated into a violent confrontation on Tuesday evening. 7 cops injured following dispute over Ambedkar’s statue in UP’s Budaun During the violence, more than ten vehicles were damaged, officials said, adding that the police have detained seven individuals for questioning. Villagers levelled serious allegations against two police personnel, claiming they kicked the statue down and broke off its arm. Later in the evening, a police and administrative team was allegedly pelted with stones. Senior officials, including District Magistrate Avanish Kumar Rai and SSP Ankita Sharma, arrived at the scene. Hyderabad Traffic Police have advised commuters to take alternate routes on Tuesday evening as heavy traffic congestion is expected around NTR Marg and the stretch between Iqbal Minar and Old Ambedkar Junction. The traffic advisory has been issued in view of the inauguration of a bronze statue of Sarvai Papanna Goud at Boats Club, near Martyrs’ Memorial, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday (August 18). Telangana Chief Minister will attend the programme and unveil the statue. Traffic congestion is expected on the stretch from Iqbal Minar to Old Ambedkar Junction and vice versa, as well as on NTR Marg, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Hyderabad Traffic Police have requested commuters to avoid the affected stretches and use alternate routes to reach their destinations. The Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar, unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on its campus on July 10. The varsity organised a seminar highlighting his enduring contributions to the Constitution, social justice, and nation-building. The programme was jointly organised by the university, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Cell, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Teaching and Non-Teaching Employees’ Association.
