As per a report by NDTV, the accused identified as Shafi, a resident of Birur in Chikkamagaluru district, allegedly murdered his friend Puttaraju, a welder, for financial gain. Police reports indicate that the crime occurred on February 19. Shafi is reported to have lured Puttaraju under the false pretext of participating in a gold auction organised by a finance company.
