Cyberabad Police have arrested three Nepali nationals in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stealing gold and silver ornaments worth several crores of rupees from a villa in Hill Ridge Villas, Gachibowli, in a swift interstate operation. The accused, identified as Merugu Sagar from Ameenpur in Sangareddy, was apprehended following an investigation into thefts reported at CMR and Malabar Gold shopping malls earlier this year. Police said the offences were reported on January 23 and February 2, when the accused posed as a customer and asked to be shown gold rings. While the sales staff were distracted, he allegedly replaced original rings with rolled gold imitations he had concealed in his shirt pocket, before leaving the stores unnoticed. According to police, the truck was attached to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and had been loaded with LPG cylinders from the company’s plant in Karari in Jhansi district. The consignment was meant to be transported to Gajner in Kanpur Dehat for distribution to domestic consumers.
