A fire broke out at the captive power plant section of a steel manufacturing unit in Chhattisgarh‘s Raipur district in the early hours of Tuesday (June 2, 2026), police said. No casualties were reported in the blaze that erupted at Mivaan Steel’s plant under the Mandir Hasaud police station area, an official said. Foundation for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel plant this month: CM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday (March 4) that the foundation for the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel plant in Anakapalli would be laid this month and for the Google Data Centre in Visakhapatnam in April. Apart from this, the Tata Group was investing ₹6,000 crore in the State. The coalition government could attract these and other marquee investments by carefully resurrecting the State’s brand image, which was destroyed by the previous YSRCP government. Thanks to the efforts of the TDP-led government, Andhra Pradesh would become a $2.40 trillion economy by 2047, he asserted. Making a statement during a discussion on demands for grants to various departments in the Assembly, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the government was giving fast clearances by introducing 26 sectoral policies, with focus on developing industrial parks in each of the 175 Assembly constituencies, and that the industry status gave a big boost to the tourism sector, the potential of which was largely untapped. He said the government so far provided jobs to 6.28 lakh individuals, including …

At the Rising Bharat Summit, Swiss-based military historian and author Adrien Fontanellaz highlighted the critical role of political courage and institutional trust in high-stakes military operations, citing India’s Operation Sindoor as a case in point. “On the political level, you really need nerves of steel to let your military be in charge of the escalation ladder and to do what they need to do because the stakes are so high,” Fontanellaz said. “You need trust in your own institutions—this was quite striking and rare.” Operation Sindoor, carried out after the Pahalgam terror attack, involved carefully calibrated strikes and military maneuvers aimed at countering insurgent networks while minimising escalation. Why are elite players making so many blunders at Tata Steel Chess tournament?

Why are elite players making so many blunders at Tata Steel Chess tournament?

“That was just unexplainable,” Nodirbek Abdusattorov said in the heady moments after taking down world champion Gukesh Dommaraju in the sixth round of the Tata Steel Chess tournament at Wijk aan Zee. The Uzbek prodigy was speaking about Gukesh’s blunder, which not only left his pawn and a rook defenceless, but also left the door open for his king to be checkmated soon. That’s why, almost immediately after making the blunder, Gukesh had resigned. That blunder from the 19-year-old world champion had made headlines, simply because of how unexplainable – as Abdusattorov termed it – it was. In the following round, too, Gukesh had another blunder against Anish Giri in a game he went on to lose. The first round saw multiple players blundering away pieces, none more jarring than Vladimir Fedoseev casting away his knight into a pawn’s path only to be captured as early as the 14th move. It was a blunder so bad that Fedoseev had to resign on the 16th move. ALSO READ | ‘Feel very sorry for him… absolutely horrible …

With jaw dropping blunder, Gukesh loses to old foe Nodirbek Abdusattorov at Tata Steel Chess tournament | Chess News

For almost five minutes, Gukesh Dommaraju could not bear to look at the board or his opponent, Nodirbek Abdusattorov. He changed his posture over 15 times in that duration, each position displaying a different degree of torment with his hand covering his face. In the previous five rounds of the Tata Steel Chess tournament, Gukesh has been unusually chatty, usually being the one to speak to the opponent to try and analyze the game. Today, no words came out of his mouth when Abdusattorov tried twice to try and talk to the Indian. It was that sort of a morale bruising result that leaves a bruise on the psyche. The world champion suffered his first defeat of the year at the Tata Steel tournament at the hands of Abdusattorov, thanks to a one-move blunder in the sixth round clash. Gukesh was shellshocked at himself for making the move and appeared to realise that he had made a fatal error a second after making it. He immediately resigned after Abdusattorov’s response. In a battle which lasted 51 moves, Gukesh capitalised on a blunder from his opponent to climb up to 3 points in five rounds. Gukesh, who had finished runner-up last year in the tournament, had started his campaign with four successive draws in the tournament. He had played out a draw apiece with Javokhir Sindarov, Jorden van Foreest, Arjun Erigaisi, and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu. While Gukesh registered an important victory in the fifth round, Praggnanandhaa’s winless run extended further. Praggnanandhaa was held to a draw with the white pieces in the fifth round by home favourite Anish Giri. The Indian now has drawn three straight games after starting off his campaign with two successive loses against Erigaisi and Nodirbek Abdusattorov.
