Twenty-three people, including five women, were arrested in connection with stone-pelting at an Ambedkar Jayanti procession that left a policeman injured, an official said on Wednesday. Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested two other accused in the Turkman Gate stone pelting case, in which around 25-30 people pelted stones at police and MCD officials after they arrived at the spot with JCBs to demolish illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, as per a High Court order. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Imran and Adnan. With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to 20. Earlier, the Tis Hazari Court reserved the bail pleas of five accused persons arrested in the stone pelting case. The court will pronounce the order on Wednesday at 4 PM. Delhi: Two more accused arrested in Turkman Gate stone-pelting incident

Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two more accused in the Turkman Gate stone pelting case, in which around 25-30 people pelted stones at police and MCD officials after they arrived at the spot with JCBs to demolish illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, as per a High Court order. The accused have been identified as Fahim alias Sanu and Shehzad. With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to 18. Earlier, the Delhi Police imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in Delhi, restricting gatherings following the recent stone-pelting incident near the gate area, officials said on Friday. Delhi Police have arrested five people in connection with the stone-pelting incident during the demolition drive near a mosque, officials said.  The incident occurred near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in the Turkman Gate area, close to Ramlila Ground, where authorities launched an anti-encroachment operation. Protest turns violent during mosque demolition, tear gas fired According to officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the drive was conducted to clear unauthorised structures from land adjoining the mosque and nearby areas, in compliance with directions issued by the Delhi High Court on November 12, 2025. The demolition exercise began in the early hours of Wednesday, with a heavy presence of civic staff and police personnel. Officials stated that between 10 and 17 bulldozers were deployed as part of the operation. Clashes broke out in the Mhow town of Madhya Pradesh`s Indore district on Sunday after a rally celebrating the Indian cricket team`s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final victory was allegedly pelted with stones, locals claimed.
