How Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan put Afghanistan into submission | Cricket News

This was a match that India used to tick various boxes put in front of them, without having a lot of stress to deal with. Shubman Gill was imperious in his first ODI century as India captain, and made it 154 for good measure. After anchoring a chase in Dharamshala, taking control of matters batting first would be another aspect the home team would be pleased about, apart from the 170-run win, that sealed the three-match series against Afghanistan with a game to spare. Ishan Kishan showed he can provide the impetus needed in the middle order. His 125 off 79 balls, after reaching fifty at less than a run a ball, proved he has gears to his batting and can adapt to situations. Gill’s exertions in excessive heat – the conditions necessitated three drinks breaks in the first innings – meant the skipper didn’t come out on the field to defend a total of 402 due to cramps. It allowed India’s new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer to take charge in largely trouble-free circumstances as …

In submission romance ‘Pillion,’ BDSM meets barbershop quartet| Entertainment News

“Do you give?” Movie Review: In submission romance ‘Pillion,’ BDSM meets barbershop quartet It can be a pertinent question in any relationship, but it’s a particularly poignant one for the BDSM couple of Harry Lighton’s kink-friendly, disarmingly affecting romance “Pillion.” Like most lovers, Colin and Ray have an understanding. OK, sure. Their lines are a little more firmly drawn than most. Colin does all the cooking, sleeps on the floor and wears a locked chair around his neck. You could say the power balance isn’t quite equitable. Basically, Colin does whatever Ray wants him to, and is happy doing it. There is, as you might expect, not a small amount of leather involved. Judge if you must, but the arrangement seems to work for them. Even among the many odd couples to grace our movie screens, Ray and Colin are a singular duo. Fay Wray and King Kong had more in common. Colin is a meek and accommodating parking enforcement officer in Bromley who lives with his parents and sings in a barbershop quartet. Ray …

Little Trouble Girls review: Slovenia’s Oscar submission is an evocative coming-of-age drama that cuts deep

Little Trouble Girls review: Slovenia’s Oscar submission is an evocative coming-of-age drama that cuts deep

Little Trouble Girls (Kaj ti je deklica) Cast: Jara Sofija Ostan, Saša Tabaković, Mina Švajger Director: Urška Djukić Language: Slovenian Star rating: ★★★★.5 The coming-of-age genre is fascinating, continually reinventing itself with every passing year, offering a diverse range of experiences within its frame. There’s an underlying current of rebellion in it, which I am always curious to locate. In Urška Djukić’s Little Trouble Girls, which played at the International Film Festival of Kerala, the rebellion unfolds through vivid and sensual imagery as we follow a Catholic girl’s sexual awakening. (Also read: Sound of Falling review: A century of shared grief ties womanhood in this sprawling epic) Little Trouble Girls is one of the best coming-of-age dramas in recent years. The premise The image of a vulva appears at the very beginning of the film, accompanied by breathing exercises in a choir-like performance. It is a striking, tone-setting introduction which immediately catches attention. The imagery hints closer to the journey the film will take alongside its protagonist, the shy 16-year-old Lucia (Jara Sofija Ostan), who …

AISA protests 75% attendance cap for exam form submission

AISA protests 75% attendance cap for exam form submission

The All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday registered its opposition to the state government’s decision to make 75 per cent attendance mandatory for filling out examination forms in 10+2 (senior secondary) schools in Jharkhand. State vice president of AISA, Vijay Kumar, said that teachers were engaged in voter survey work as BLOs. (HT File/Representative use) AISA’s state co-secretary, Sanjana Mehta, while protesting the 2022 decision taken under the National Education Policy, 2020, said that achieving such a high attendance percentage is only possible when all sanctioned teaching positions are filled and adequate educational resources are available. “Regular student attendance is only possible when all sanctioned teaching positions in schools are filled, and adequate educational resources are available. However, the reality is that approximately 65 per cent of the sanctioned teaching positions in 10+2 schools across Jharkhand are vacant. The imbalance in the number and location of schools is also a major problem, forcing many students to travel 40-50 kilometres to attend school. Lack of transportation facilities, financial constraints, the compulsion to engage in farming …

West Bengal extends Class XI marks submission deadline in wake of teacher shortage, Murshidabad violence, festivals | Kolkata News

West Bengal extends Class XI marks submission deadline in wake of teacher shortage, Murshidabad violence, festivals | Kolkata News

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has extended the deadline for the online submission of Class XI semester examination marks. The move comes after the Advanced Society for Headmasters and Headmistresses (ASFHM) submitted a formal request, highlighting the multiple challenges currently being faced by schools across the state. A letter had been sent to Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, the President of the Council. “The Council has taken into account the recent shortage of teachers in many schools, a situation worsened by the latest Supreme Court ruling. Additionally, recent disturbances in parts of the state, including Murshidabad, have led to the deployment of security forces on school campuses and disruptions in internet services. These factors, combined with holidays due to Eid, Poila Boishakh (Bengali New Year), and other regional festivals, hindered timely mark submissions. Taking these circumstances into consideration, the Council has issued a circular extending the deadline for online marks submission to April 30, 2025,” said Chandan Kumar Maity of the ASFHM. The situation has been grim in government-sponsored schools: while some were …

Maharashtra FYJC admissions: No system of manual submission of marks for non-state board Class 10 students | Mumbai News

Maharashtra FYJC admissions: No system of manual submission of marks for non-state board Class 10 students | Mumbai News

In order to prevent fraud in First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions in Maharashtra, the school education department has decided that non-state board students will no longer be allowed to manually submit their Class 10 marks to the system. Like Maharashtra State Board students, their marks too will now be directly sourced by the system from verified sources or respective schools, ensuring fairness and preventing manipulation. This move comes after unravelling of fraudulent admissions at Mumbai’s Somaiya Trust-run junior colleges a few months ago. The education department’s inquiry had revealed that securing seats through fraudulent means was made possible as these applicants were able to manually enter their marks into the system, a loophole which enabled them to submit multiple applications under one name. According to the existing system, for applicants of FYJC from Maharashtra State Board, their Class 10 scores are directly sourced from the state board, leaving no room for errors or duplication. However, FYJC applicants from non-state boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary …

Ryan Rickelton’s 103 hammers Afghanistan into submission as SA win by 107 runs

Ryan Rickelton’s 103 hammers Afghanistan into submission as SA win by 107 runs

A weightlifting national champion at school, Ryan Rickelton muscled South Africa to a spirit-soaring scything of Afghanistan in Karachi. A resourceful, well-grooved unit, the Proteas had weirdly stumbled onto a lean patch this year in this format, winless until Friday, and consequently not counted among the outright favourites. But when the whistles of big-ticket tournaments buzz their ears, they inevitably turn up. So they did, to the lively cheers of scattered locals, though eventually drowned out in the acoustics of the Afghanistan supporters. Agonisingly for them, South Africa laid bare Afghan vulnerabilities, in a format in which they are work in progress. From cracking the 50-over temperament to scientifically plotting a steep chase and taking wickets in the middle-overs, there are holes that impede their evolution from party-spoilers to knockout hopefuls, as they stuttered to 208 all out, chasing South Africa’s 315 for 8. Apart from Rahmat Shah’s plucky 90, they had few takeaways from the game. Conversely, South Africa are a well-worn side, a last-four guarantee in most global tournaments. Every time they seem …

‘Say Liverpool are going to win the league’: Watch WWE wrestler Sheamus put former Manchester United player Gary Neville in submission move | Football News

Former Manchester United player Gary Neville found himself in a tight situation when World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler and known Liverpool fan Sheamus had him in a submission move and jokingly asked him to say the Merseyside club were going to win the English Premier League. In an episode of “It’s Called Soccer,” both the England international and the Irish wrestler discussed wrestling and football before Neville asked Sheamus what it was like being a wrestler. The WWE star gave Neville a first-hand experience when he had the football player in a Cloverleaf submission. What made it even funnier was that while applying the move, Sheamus constantly yelled at Neville to say that “Liverpool are going to win the league” and “Liverpool are No.1”. To which Neville refused to relent and after the wrestler let him, go everyone present had a good laugh.
