The RTCs have been bleeding under the increased fuel prices triggered by the West Asia war and have also been under pressure over revenue collection in the last three years since Shakti, the scheme allowing free travel for women, was implemented by the State government as one of the five guarantees. File. | Photo Credit: ANI Amidst the ongoing rebellion in the party, the Trinamool Congress led by party chairperson Mamata Banerjee has sent a fresh list of its office-bearers and national working committee members to the Election Commission (EC). The rebel faction of the party, which had appointed a new chairperson on Monday (June 22, 2026), also submitted a list of office-bearers to the EC through the office of Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal. In the list submitted by her loyalists, Ms. Banerjee remains the chairperson of the All India Trinamool Congress, while Subrata Bakshi is the vice-president and Abhishek Banerjee is the national general secretary and the party’s leader in the Lok Sabha. The list has named Derek O’Brien (Rajya Sabha MP) and Dola Sen as joint secretaries and Subhasish Chakraborty as treasurer. The panel will submit its report to the government in three months, the official said on Sunday (May 10, 2026). The cruise boat, operated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department, capsized on April 30 in the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district, killing 13 persons, including women and children, while 28 others were rescued. The commission, formed on Sunday (May 10) under the chairmanship of retired High Court judge Sanjay Dwivedi, will probe the causes of the accident, examine whether adequate rescue and relief measures were taken, and fix responsibility, the official said. Tamil Nadu Governor asks Vijay to submit list of supporting MLAs, prove majority

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Thursday asked Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay to submit a list of supporting Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and demonstrate the numbers required to prove majority during their second meeting at Lok Bhavan, sources told news agency ANI. According to the sources quoted above, the Governor sought complete clarity on the magic number for government formation and wanted details of all legislators backing TVK’s claim. Vijay, who met the Governor for the second consecutive day, is not inclined to seek support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sources added. After the meeting, he held consultations with senior TVK leaders and legal advisors at his residence in Neelankarai.
