Munna Bhai’s ‘M Bole Toh’ was written for Shah Rukh, says Farhad Samji: ‘English will suit SRK’ | Bollywood News

4 min readMumbaiJul 9, 2026 04:53 PM IST Farhad Samji may now be known as a filmmaker, having directed films such as Housefull 4, Bachchhan Paandey, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, but he began his career as a lyricist, writing more than 100 songs. In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Samji recalled how he came up with the iconic ‘M Bole To’ track for Munna Bhai MBBS, a film that was initially being developed with Shah Rukh Khan in mind. Munna Bhai with Shah Rukh Khan Recalling how the opportunity came his way, Samji said, “A situation came up with Anu Malik for Munna Bhai. One night at around 10 p.m., Anu Malik called me and said, ‘Tomorrow Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Raju Hirani are coming for a sitting. Make a mukhda (opening refrain) for something, and we’ll jam together and play it for them.’ And that opportunity I could not miss.” He added, “At that time, I was told that Shah Rukh Khan was the hero. If you know, Munna Bhai …

As Vijay’s suit and lunchbox trends, Udhayanidhi Stalin says everything’s ‘reels with him’ | Tamil News

2 min readHyderabadJun 18, 2026 06:12 PM IST A month into Tamil Nadu’s first non-Dravidian government in over five decades, the conversation around Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s administration is still dominated by his wardrobe and his lunchbox rather than his policies. Hashtags have been trending on X over posts about the cost of his suit and what he eats for lunch, prompting DMK leader and Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin to renew his criticism that the TVK government remains stuck in campaign mode, treating governance as content rather than addressing the state’s pressing issues. The wardrobe story has a real, traceable origin. The black suit Vijay wore at his swearing-in was designed by Sabir Ahmed and modelled on a look from his film Beast, with Vijay himself choosing the colour black to signal power and authority. The choice marked a deliberate break from the white shirt and veshti that Tamil Nadu chief ministers have traditionally worn at their oath-taking. The look took on a commercial life of its own soon after, when a Chennai …

Pune court allows Sugandha Hiremath’s suit in Kalyani family dispute to continue

Pune court allows Sugandha Hiremath’s suit in Kalyani family dispute to continue

In a positive for Sugandha Hiremath, concerning the property dispute in the Kalyani family, a Pune court has refused to stay her partition suit seeking her share in ancestral wealth estimated billions of dollars.  In two separate detailed orders, Joint Civil Judge J.G. Pawar refused to stay the proceedings as sought by Sugandha’s brother Gaurishankar Kalyani and his daughter, Sheetal Kalyani. The Kalyanis had filed applications under section 10 of Civil Procedure Code seeking a stay on the suit filed by Ms Hiremath in 2025.  Their contention was that her suit was similar to other partitions proceedings concerning Kalyani family wealth. They argued that Ms Kalyani’s suit filed in 2014 and Ms Hiremath’s suit of 2025 were identical.  Ms Hiremath on her part argued that the applications filed by her brother Mr Kalyani and his daughter Ms Kalyani were nothing but attempts to protract or delay hearings in the case. After hearing all the sides, the court on June 3 passed a detailed order.  The court took note of four suits concerning Kalyani family wealth. …

CM Vijay swaps signature suit for traditional veshti at manager’s housewarming | Tamil News

3 min readHyderabadMay 29, 2026 02:42 PM IST C. Joseph Vijay has made the black suit his political uniform. Since the day he was sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s 22nd Chief Minister, the crisp Western formal look has become as much a part of his public identity as the office itself. Which is exactly why his appearance at his manager Jagdish’s housewarming ceremony caught people’s attention. At the private function, Vijay set aside his trademark formal wear and showed up in traditional attire, a quiet but noticeable departure from the image he has carefully carried into his political life. Photos from the event circulated quickly online, with many pointing out the contrast between the CM’s usual style and the more grounded, culturally rooted look he chose for the occasion. Jagdish, who has been associated with Vijay through his years in the film industry, celebrated the milestone with the CM present among the guests. The visit itself reflects the kind of personal loyalty Vijay has been known to maintain even as his world has shifted dramatically from …

Vashu Bhagnani files Rs 400 cr suit against Tips, David Dhawan, seeks change in title of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai

The legal battle between producer Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment and Ramesh Taurani-led Tips Industries has intensified dramatically. Pooja Entertainment has filed a Rs 400 crore lawsuit before the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries Limited, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani and filmmaker David Dhawan over the alleged unauthorised use of songs from the 1999 blockbuster Biwi No 1 in Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The suit seeks urgent relief restraining the release, distribution, exhibition, streaming and further commercial exploitation of the film and its promotional material featuring the disputed songs, “Chunnari Chunnari” and “Ishq Sona Hai”. According to Pooja Entertainment, the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai do not possess the necessary rights to use the two songs from Biwi No 1. The production house has demanded that the tracks be removed from both the film and its promotional campaigns. The dispute carries added significance because the film’s title is derived from the song “Ishq Sona Hai”. Pooja Entertainment has therefore also sought a change in the title …

Lanterns trailer breakdown: Plenty of green, costumed Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan in suit, and is that Parallax?

Lanterns trailer breakdown: Plenty of green, costumed Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan in suit, and is that Parallax?

The trailer for the upcoming DCU series, Lanterns, based on the DC Comics’ Green Lantern Corps, dropped on Monday. The show, which introduces two new Green Lanterns to James Gunn’s DC Universe, had a polarising first teaser. But the new trailer has been received much more positively, with viewers praising the action, powers, and visual effects. And it helps that the new trailer packs a lot of meat, including Easter eggs, cameos, and potential hints at the overarching nemesis in Lanterns’ lore. Lanterns trailer gives the first look at Kyle Chandler suited up as Hal Jordan. Yes, there is a lot of green The first trailer for Lanterns had been criticised for showing no Green Lantern constructs despite showing two Lanterns – Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre). In fact, many joked that since the show didn’t have the word ‘green’ in its title, the makers had sucked all the colour out of it. The new trailer rectifies that. We see visuals of Hal using his ring, both in ways big and …

Swati Maliwal faces defamation suit for calling AAP MLAs ‘bhed, bakri’

2 min readLudhianaUpdated: May 14, 2026 10:14 AM IST The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Moga, Punjab, MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora on Wednesday filed a defamation suit against Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal for allegedly calling the state party MLAs “bhed bakri”. The RS member from Delhi, Maliwal, recently joined the BJP with six others. Dr Arora, who is also the party’s Punjab women wing president, told The Indian Express that she has filed the defamation suit against Maliwal in a local court of Moga and the hearing is scheduled for May 19. “Swati Maliwal ji called AAP MLAs ‘bhed bakri’ in her post on X which is highly demeaning and defamatory. We are not sheep and goats but highly qualified and elected members of the Punjab Assembly. I am a qualified doctor. I have worked as a doctor for seven years before joining politics. Likewise, many of our MLAs are doctors, lawyers, teachers etc. They don’t deserve to be called bhed bakri,” said Arora. The Moga MLA also said that unlike Maliwal, who …

‘…Those conditions might not suit them’

2 min readMay 9, 2026 02:10 PM IST Kolkata Knight Riders are surging mid-season after starting the campaign poorly. They have won four in a row and have an advantage of an extra point because rain affected the match against the Punjab Kings earlier in the tournament. If they win all their remaining games, they will reach 17 points, giving them a clear advantage. Ajinkya Rahane’s side will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are in shaky territory after losing two in a row. Intriguingly, the game is in Raipur. “Their match against RCB is in Raipur. Raipur is an away ground even for RCB. I think RCB are the most balanced side in the tournament, but they have lost two consecutive games. So their form has wavered a little. I think, among the remaining games, that will be the most difficult to win, because those conditions might not suit them,” Aakash Chopra observed on his YouTube channel. M. Chinnaswamy has hosted RCB since the IPL’s inception in 2008, but this season, five games are …
