Dhakshineswar Suresh makes India’s Davis Cup squad against The Netherlands for the Feb 7-8 tie | Tennis News

Dhaksineshwar Suresh will join Sumit Nagal and Karan Singh to play singles as India take on The Netherlands in the Davis Cup 2026 qualifiers which will be played at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru on February 7-8. In what is an indicator of where talent is coming from, four athletes from Roundglass Tennis Academy, Yuki Bhambri, Sumit Nagal, Karan Singh and Digvijay Singh were named in India’s Davis Cup squad. While Yuki, Sumit and Karan are named in the playing squad, Digvijay has been named in the reserves list. India number 1 and World Number 279, Sumit Nagal recently joined Roundglass Tennis Academy at what is an ambitious high-performance tennis ecosystem in the country. Sumit Nagal became the first Indian to win a main draw match at the Monte Carlo Masters after he defeated World No.38 Matteo Arnaldi of Italy 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the opening round on Monday. Nagal also became the first from the country to win a main draw match at one of the three Masters 1000 events – the series that started in 1990 – held on clay. After a long grind back to his best form and level following injury setbacks, Nagal has worked his way up from being ranked outside the top 500 last year.
