With Supreme Court directions in place on the stray dogs issue, the Pune civic body has begun gathering information on animal feeders along with the feeding spots, so as to officially give approval for the same, after ensuring safety of citizens. “All citizens within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) who are feeding stray dogs must submit an application to the civic health department within 15 days about details of feeding stray dogs including their information,” said Nina Borade, head of PMC health department. She said any individuals including animal lovers or animal welfare organisations or groups who are feeding stray dogs must submit an application with detailed information of the exact location where the stray dogs are being fed, feeding time, estimated number of stray dogs being fed and any other relevant details. “Based on this information, designated feeding spots for stray dogs within PMC limits will be finalised after completing the necessary procedures as per the directions issued by the Supreme Court,” said Borade.
