Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday suspended four senior officials of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and initiated disciplinary proceedings against six other employees in connection with mistakes found in textbooks prescribed for Classes 1 to 8 for the 2026–27 academic session. Four SCERT officials were suspended and six others face disciplinary action over mistakes in Odisha school textbooks. The state government suspended former SCERT director Manoj Padhi and assistant directors Pradipta Mishra, Dilip Kumar Sahu and Bharati Tudu after an inquiry committee headed by development commissioner D.K. Singh was constituted following Majhi’s order for a probe into errors found in school textbooks. The government has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against six assistant directors — Bandita Pattnaik, Manas Ranjan Rout, Manoranjana Mahapatra, Prashant Kumar Sahu, Manas Kumar Nayak and Sudarshan Santara. The government has accepted all 14 recommendations made by the inquiry committee to overhaul the textbook preparation and review process. IndiGo to suspend flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City

IndiGo has announced the temporary suspension of flights to six international destinations, including Hong Kong, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, citing softer travel demand and a challenging operating environment. The airline said services to Langkawi (Malaysia), Krabi (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Hong Kong, and Shanghai (China) will be suspended from July 1, while flights to Siem Reap (Cambodia) will be halted from July 3. According to IndiGo, the suspension will remain in effect until September 30. Bookings for all affected routes are expected to resume from October 1, although the airline said services could be restored earlier if market conditions improve and operational requirements permit. “IndiGo will resume bookings for all the impacted services starting October 1, 2026. However, should the environment become favourable, IndiGo stands prepared to reinstate these services earlier than scheduled, with appropriate lead time,” the airline said in a statement. Delhi HC rejects plea to suspend jail term of Kuldeep Singh Sengar

The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to suspend the 10-year jail term of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the custodial death case of the Unnao rape survivor’s father. “The application seeking suspension of sentence is dismissed,” said Justice Ravinder Dudeja. The judge observed that although Sengar had suffered a long incarceration of 7.5 years, relief could not be given on the grounds of delay in deciding his appeal against conviction, as the delay was partly because he filed multiple applications in the matter and stated that the court finds no ground to grant relief. The court listed the appeal for hearing on February 3. On March 13, 2020, Sengar was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a trial court, besides imposition of a fine of Rs 10 lakh, in the case.
