The actor died at a Mumbai hospital on April 29, 2020. Now, in a recent interview with Humans Of Bombay, Babil revealed that his mother Sutapa Sikdar compiled “17 pages of criticism” after watching Paan Singh Tomar. FYI: The 2012 film, by National Award-winning director Tigmanshu Dhulia, was based on the life of athlete Paan Singh Tomar. The Netflix film, which also stars Juhi Chawla and Medha Rana, has received much love from fans and critics alike. Babil, who is basking in the success of Friday Night Plan, has received an open letter from “mumma” Sutapa Sikdar. She has shared a set of throwback pictures on Instagram. The first one features a postcard highlighting the power of motherhood. In the next slide, we get a glimpse of the handwritten note sent by Sutapa Sikdar to Babil. Sutapa in an interview with journalist-author Shubhra Gupta, published in Pan Macmillan India’s upcoming book, “Irrfan: Life in Movies”, said the iconic actor took a while to get comfortable with the English language. “His mother tongue was Hindi, he thought in Hindi. So, I personally felt it took him a while to be comfortable in the English language. Very strictly my point of view. I feel that language was a barrier,” said Sutapa, as quoted in the book.
