Suzuki has announced a few year-end benefits for the V-Strom SX in the Indian market. The manufacturer is offering up to 100 per cent loan, insurance benefits of up to ₹8,000 and no hypothecation. The V-Strom SX also gets an extended warranty of 10 years as part of the year-end offers. The motorcycle is priced at ₹1.98 lakh ex-showroom. New Delhi: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it will increase prices of various models by Rs 2,500-62,000, from April 8. The company has planned to increase car prices due to rising input costs, operational expenses, regulatory changes and feature additions, the auto major said in a regulatory filing. While the company is committed to optimising costs and reducing the impact on its customers, it is constrained to pass on some of the increased expenses to the market, it added. The company said it will hike price of compact SUV Fronx by Rs 2,500, Dzire Tour S by Rs 3,000, and that of multi purpose vehicles XL6 and Ertiga by Rs 12,500. The company also plans to increase the price of compact model Wagon R by Rs 14,000 and Eeco van by Rs 22,500. Besides, the price of SUV Grand Vitara will go up by Rs 62,000 from April 8, the company stated. The existing capacity at Kharkhoda stands at 2.5 lakh units per year. Another plant with a capacity of 2.5 lakh units per year is under construction, Maruti Suzuki said in a regulatory filing. In its meeting held on Wednesday the Board approved setting up of the third plant at Kharkhoda with a capacity of up to 2.5 lakh vehicles per year, it added. The investment required is ₹7,410 crore, the company said. The proposed capacity addition would be up to 2.5 lakh units per year. With this addition, the capacity at Kharkhoda is likely to reach 7.5 lakh units per year and the proposed capacity is to be added by 2029, it said. …

Former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation Osamu Suzuki was on Saturday posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, in the trade and industry category for his role in the growth of India’s automobile industry. Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi and former Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, Bibek Debroy, were posthumously honoured with Padma Bhushan. State Bank of India’s (SBI) first woman chairperson, Arundhati Bhattacharya, was awarded the Padma Shri — one of the country’s highest civilian honours, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement. Under Osamu Suzuki’s leadership, Maruti Suzuki became one of the first companies to help establish the automobile manufacturing ecosystem in the country. Suzuki and Toyota have been working together on a new 4WD-capable electric SUV, and in Italy yesterday, Suzuki revealed the fruits of the collaboration: a new compact called the E Vitara.
