Ananthan Kaadu review: Murali Gopy swallowed an encyclopedia, now we’re paying the price | Movie-review News

Ananthan Kaadu Movie Review & Rating: “The most honest form of filmmaking is to make a film for yourself,” thus goes a quote widely attributed to Sir Peter Jackson, renowned for creating the Lord of the Rings movies. Among the current crop of Malayalam screenwriters, I would say Murali Gopy pens the most “personal” scripts; he essentially writes for himself. However, the issue is that he often writes solely for himself, without the slightest thought that it is for the eventual consumption of others. Sure, artists like Rick Rubin may have said that “the audience comes (only) last,” but that doesn’t mean the audience doesn’t exist at all. I am not suggesting that screenwriters should be swayed by audience sensibilities or craft scripts with people’s preferences in mind. Nonetheless, to jot down whatever comes to mind, however one wants to, and then put the onus on the masses to like it no matter what — simply because it has hit theatres or “a lot of effort has gone into making it” — is unfair. How Jasprit Bumrah’s slower ball swallowed seven batsmen at the T20 World Cup

4 min readChennaiMar 9, 2026 09:00 PM IST There is a moment, just before the ball leaves Jasprit Bumrah’s hand, when the batsman thinks he knows. The arm comes over high and fast — nothing in the action suggests anything is different. The seam position offers no clue. The fingers give nothing away. Then, at the last instant, the wrist snaps sideways — a single, violent, almost invisible rotation, as if turning a doorknob. The arm speed is preserved. The ball is not. By the time the batsman realises, he is already through the shot. * * *Ryan Rickelton saw it first. South Africa were rebuilding, two wickets down, and Rickelton leaned into a length delivery around middle stump the way you do when you have read the length early and trust your hands. The ball arrived after his hands had finished. It lobbed to mid-off. Rickelton turned to the giant screen, not quite believing what he had just watched himself do. That was the first glimpse. There would be six more. * * *Against …

EU declares caffeine ‘harmful to humans if swallowed’: What it means for the brew and other energy drinks | Health News

A recent move by the European Union (EU) has raised eyebrows after officials classified caffeine as “harmful to humans if swallowed” under new chemical safety guidelines. The decision, which also includes banning caffeine as a pesticide, was based on scientific assessments highlighting potential risks to the heart, hydration, and nervous system. While the regulation primarily targets its use in agriculture, the ruling has ignited concerns about how future policies might affect everyday caffeine consumption. In banning its application to agriculture, the European Commission said scientific evidence from the European Food Safety Authority showed “caffeine has adverse effects on the cardiovascular system, hydration and body temperature in adults, as well as on the central nervous system (sleep, anxiety, behavioural changes) in adults and children, and an adverse birth weight-related outcome in pregnant women.” Story continues below this ad With coffee deeply embedded in European culture, the ruling has triggered backlash from critics who see it as an unnecessary intervention.  Some worry this could be a step toward tighter restrictions on caffeine-containing products. But what does this …
