The Pimpri Chinchwad police, in a joint operation with the military intelligence unit of Indian Army’s Southern Command, have arrested a Pune resident for allegedly swindling lakhs of rupees from people promising them jobs in an ordnance factory in Pune, the police said on Thursday. The police said that the accused identified as Subhash Magan Pawar, resident of Khed taluka, was working with a defence establishment in Pune. The suspect had allegedly taken about Rs 43 lakh from at least four people. The police suspect the accused has allegedly cheated more persons through the recruitment scam. Story continues below this ad According to the police, the fake recruitment scam came to light following a complaint from a woman from Malwadi in Dehugaon who allegedly gave Pawar a cheque of Rs 24 lakh to secure jobs for her three sons at an ordnance depot.
