Does Wishtel get an underdog tablet equation right with the IRA Duo Pro 5G?

Does Wishtel get an underdog tablet equation right with the IRA Duo Pro 5G?

Not exactly a name that’d be on your shortlist for a planned Android convertibles splurge, but there’s more gravitas to Indian tech company Wishtel than many realise. They’ve been around since 2012, missed the manufacturing contract for the government’s ambitious Aakash affordable tablet project by a whisker, launched their own low-cost IRA tablets which have been around for more than a decade now, developed education solutions such as Vidya AI, has solutions for the financial as well as healthcare sectors, and has a rather wide lineup of affordable convertible computing devices that run Microsoft Windows as well as Google’s Android too. They’ve been pushing for a digital India, since before it became a policy. Wishtel already has a wide portfolio of Android and Windows 11 computing devices, and the IRA Duo Pro 5G adds to that The reason for that jog into the historical timeline of Wishtel is because the company has widened its already fairly wide tablet portfolio, with something that again would be relevant for that overlap between education usage, a collective computing …

This Rs 1,600 ‘Apple Pencil’ alternative works with any smartphone or tablet, even my decade-old iPad Air | Technology News

When I was growing up, I was always intrigued by devices that supported a stylus, especially Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), which were everywhere in the ’90s. They were the flagships of their time, aimed at business executives. The idea of a stylus was simple: it let users interact with the interface, take notes on the go, and sketch. It was a very different time. However, over the years, the stylus evolved, and in the 2010s, it started to go mainstream. I remember that when I was in university and began freelance writing, the first device I extensively covered was the Samsung Galaxy Note. Then came the Apple iPad and the Microsoft Surface Pro, which helped standardise stylus support. While very few phones support styluses today, tablets seem to be increasingly embracing them, and it’s now common to see even entry-level slates offering Pencil support. But for me, the Apple Pencil remains the gold standard, as it is one of the most advanced styluses for note-taking, drawing, and editing. However, it doesn’t come cheap, is available …

Samsung’s Z TriFold is official and it looks like a tablet with a phone attached

Samsung’s Z TriFold is official and it looks like a tablet with a phone attached

Samsung is officially announcing the Z TriFold, its much-anticipated foldable with not one, but two hinges. It’ll launch first in Korea on December 12th, with a US launch planned for the first quarter of 2026. There’s no price just yet, but if a phone with one hinge costs $2,000, you should probably start saving your pennies nickels for this one. The TriFold’s inner screen measures 10 inches on the diagonal, with a 2160 x 1584 resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that goes all the way down to 1Hz. That’s a lot of screen. You can run three apps vertically side by side on it, and even use Samsung’s DeX desktop environment in a standalone mode without a separate display. On paper, the TriFold’s outer screen looks a lot like the one on the Z Fold 7. It’s a 6.5-inch 1080p display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Each of the TriFold’s three panels has a slightly different thickness. The center panel is the thickest at 4.2mm, and it houses a USB-C port on the …

Microsoft is bringing the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE), which adds a console-like UI while navigating through your game library on a PC with a controller, to laptops, desktops, and tablets. FSE launched with the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, and it has so far only been available on PC handhelds. The expansion to laptops, desktops, and tablets is available as part of new Windows Insider Preview Builds on the Dev and Beta channels and for people in the Xbox Insider Program. To turn on FSE on your PC, “hover over the Task View icon on your taskbar and choose Xbox full screen experience,” Microsoft says. “You can also open Xbox full screen experience in Game Bar > Settings or by pressing Win + F11 to toggle the experience.” However, even if you’re a Windows Insider, you may not have the access to FSE right away, as Microsoft says the feature is “gradually rolling out” with the new Windows Insider builds. It also requires that you have the Xbox app from the Microsoft store. …
