Box Office Early Trends: Shahid Kapoor, Tripti Dimri’s O Romeo eyes Rs. 8 Cr day 1, Tu Yaa Main finds no takers

Box Office Early Trends: Shahid Kapoor, Tripti Dimri’s O Romeo eyes Rs. 8 Cr day 1, Tu Yaa Main finds no takers

O’ Romeo is looking to collect Rs. 8 crore nett approx on its opening day at the Indian box office. The opening day business is better than the previous two Shahid Kapoor films, Teri Baaton Main Uljha Jiya (Rs. 6.50 crore) and Devaa (Rs. 5.50 crore), albeit all three being at the same level. There is said to be some feeding in these same numbers, so the real number is even closer. On face value, the opening for the film is fair in the current market, as even lighter rom-coms have been starting in this range; this is more of a thriller. However, for the costs involved, the film needed to do much better than this. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. It is not a holiday per se, but it is a highly lucrative day for the box office, especially for the film having love-story and caters to younger demographics. As a result, the film could see a better-than-normal spike on Saturday, but ultimately, the key is to hold on Monday, especially when the start is …

ISL, India’s top tier league, finds no takers – on terms set by the All India Football Federation | Football News

ISL, India’s top tier league, finds no takers – on terms set by the All India Football Federation | Football News

There are no takers for the country’s premier football competition, the Indian Super League (ISL), at least in the way All India Football Federation (AIFF) envisages it. Last month, the governing body invited tenders from companies with a minimum net worth of Rs 250 crore to bid for the ISL commercial rights and put forward a set of conditions. Some of them were that for the duration of the partnership — 15 years — the winning bidder would pay the AIFF Rs 37.5 crore each year, or 5 percent of the gross revenue, whichever was higher, mandatory promotion and relegation, parachute payments for relegated teams and gradual adoption of the Video Assistant Referee. The interested parties had till November 7, 5pm to submit the tenders. But on Friday, when the deadline expired, the AIFF, embarrassingly, did not have a single bid. And now, the future of the ISL — at a time when men’s football is going through one of its darkest phases — looks uncertain once again. Story continues below this ad ”The financials …
