File | Photo Credit: ANI Maharashtra government announced to set up a ministerial task force under Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence department with aim for implementation of the State’s drone policy. “The policy need is to strengthen existing drone ecosystem and for that government has to assist the existing companies as well attracting new investments,” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. The State’s Electronics, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence Minister, Ashish Shelar will chair the task force. The decision was taken in the wake of conflicts in the policy’s drafting and procedural delays. The industry stakeholders raised the concerns like lack of competitive incentives compared to other States. Nandan NilekaniThe co-founder and chairman of Infosys Technologies Limited, Nilekani was the founding chairman of the UIDAI in the rank of a Cabinet Minister from 2009-2014. In January 2023, he was appointed the co-chair of the “G20 Task Force on Digital Public Infrastructure for Economic Transformation, Financial Inclusion, and Development”. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday that the decision was taken at a recent meeting with stakeholders, including officials from Formula One, Buddh International Circuit owners the Adani Group, representatives of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and young racers and enthusiasts. “We will constitute a task force to undertake a detailed assessment of the motorsports ecosystem in the country and examine the challenges associated with its growth,” Mandaviya said. The task force will evaluate the economic, tourism and investment benefits of hosting major motorsport events in India, identify infrastructure requirements and submit recommendations to the ministry.
