As the Ukraine war delays Russian defence supplies to India, Russia has organised an exhibition in Delhi to highlight the decades-old defence ties between the two countries. The exhibition on “Indian-Russian Defence Partnership” will display more than 50 photographs, many of which will be shown to the public for the first time. Beginning Tuesday, it will mark 120 years of Russia’s state-owned news agency TASS, and will be inaugurated by Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov. These photographs include those of Indo-Russian military exercises, technological cooperation and photographs from the 2013 handover of the Vikramaditya, which is the refitted former Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov. A highlight is a photograph of former USSR Defence Minister Georgy Zhukov riding an elephant during his 1957 visit to India. Besides TASS and the Russian Embassy, the Russian House in New Delhi is co-presenting the exhibition, as seen through the lens of TASS photographers over the last six decades.
