Seven schoolgirls fainted following punishment by a teacher in Bihar’s Khagaria district, officials said on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Eknia Middle School on Tuesday under Mansi Nagar Panchayat in the district.  Several Std VI students were allegedly made to do sit-ups by a teacher for not completing their homework, during which seven girls fainted and fell to the ground, officials said.  All the girls, who were taken to Mansi Community Health Centre (CHC) for primary treatment, were discharged after their condition stabilised. Telangana to fill 202 vacancies to strengthen teacher training institutions

Vacancies in teacher training institutions to be filled by Telangana government Telangana School Education Department has decided to fill a total of 202 vacancies in various teacher training institutions in the State, as a stop-gap arrangement by deputing in-service officials on foreign service terms and conditions. This includes filling of 131 lecturer posts in District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET), 36 in College of Teacher Education (CTE), 17 in Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), and 18 in State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT). Noting that the posts have remained vacant for a considerable time, affecting students in these institutions, the orders released on Sunday (June 28, 2026), said eligible gazetted headmasters and school assistants of government and local body management schools can apply. The deputation will be assigned following a computer-based test, interview, and demonstration. The exercise is scheduled for completion by August 10, when the deputation orders will be issued. Mumbai: Amid nationwide uproar over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak, the Maharashtra State Examination Council (MSEC) on Saturday cancelled the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled on Sunday after parts of the question paper were allegedly leaked. School education minister Dada Bhuse said a fresh date for the exam would be announced after proper preparation and a transparent probe. Thane Police arrested three suspects in connection with the TET paper leak case (HT/Praful Gangurde) “Considering recent cases of paper leak and to conduct examinations in a transparent manner, we need to consider an online model for the TET examination,” Bhuse said. The cancellation of the exam a day ahead of the scheduled date has sparked unrest among candidates, especially serving teachers under 55 years who must clear the TET by 2028 to remain in service as per the apex court’s mandate.
