Opinion | Is Your AI Casteist? Demeaning The Technological Advancement With Caste Prism | India News

Last Updated:January 28, 2026, 21:30 IST It is a sad precedent of our times to include only the lower castes as passive sufferers for no reason at all whenever a new technology comes into vogue What is most disturbing is the implication that ChatGPT is somehow designed to oppress or exploit lower-caste users. (Representational image: AI-generated) One worrying tendency has become common in Bharatiya discourse: interpreting every new international instance through the prism of caste. Caste, undoubtedly, represents one of the most long-standing and violent forms of inequality in Bharat, but not all subjects will benefit from this interpretation. Interpreting every new instance through this prism can often distort a valid critique into something troubling, as identified. The notion that ChatGPT, an AI tool developed in accordance with international standards of technological development, represents domination by upper castes over lower castes is the most extreme form of this distortion. Just because this tool was developed according to international, rather than Bharatiya, technological principles, it represents domination by upper castes over lower castes, which is the …

Not Only Rain, Technological Hurdle Ruined India vs New Zealand 1st Test Day 1 – Here’s How

Not Only Rain, Technological Hurdle Ruined India vs New Zealand 1st Test Day 1 – Here’s How

The rain played spoilsport in more ways than one on Day 1 of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Consistent rain throughout the day led to play being called off without a ball being bowled or even the toss taking place on Day 1. However, even though the rain stopped at times, there was another technological issue that further held back play. The hawk-eye system – crucial in the working of the Decision Review System (DRS) – could not be formatted into the ground due to the rain. As revealed by former India cricketer-turned-pundit Saba Karim on air, the hawk-eye system can only be implemented and formatted into the ground once the covers are removed. Rain prior to the game, as well as during Day 1, meant that the formatting process could not take place. The formatting takes about an hour and a half, as per Saba Karim. At no point during the day did the covers stay removed for such a long duration, making …

Scientists Find Evidence of Past Extreme Solar Storms, Warn of Potential Technological Catastrophe

In 1859, when Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, the Earth experienced one of the most powerful solar storms in recorded history. Telegraph systems across Europe and North America malfunctioned, sparking fires in some places. This event, later known as the Carrington event, was preceded by the first confirmed observation of a solar flare, an intense burst of radiation from the Sun. The flare set off brilliant auroras across the skies, signalling the onset of the solar storm. While the Carrington event was intense, new research shows that even more extreme solar storms have occurred in the past. Radiocarbon Clues from Tree Rings Scientists have uncovered evidence of these ancient storms by studying radiocarbon levels in tree rings. Fusa Miyake, a researcher from Nagoya University, led a team that discovered abrupt spikes in radiocarbon concentrations, indicating extreme solar storms. Their findings include events such as those in AD774, AD993, and even further back in 660BC and 5259BC. These solar storms were much stronger than the Carrington event, with the most intense storm on …
