T.N. Transport Minister inaugurates Kallakurichi bus terminus

Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar inaugurated the new bus terminus in Kallakurichi on Tuesday. The new bus terminus, established on 5.5 acres, had been built at an estimated cost of ₹16.21 crore on the Emapper bypass in Kallakurichi. The facility features parking bays for 50 buses, 70 commercial shops, a passenger waiting area, a food court, a security room, sanitation complexes and drinking water facilities. The project, which on completion has fulfilled a long-pending demand of the residents in the area, commenced in 2025. Collector M.S. Prasanth was present on the occasion. The schedule of buses from Cherlapally Railway Terminal to Borabanda was announced by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Thursday (January 9, 2025). | Photo Credit: By Arrangement Three days after the Cherlapally Railway Terminal was inaugurated, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Thursday (January 9, 2025) announced regular operation of buses from the newly inaugurated Terminus to Borabanda. The buses, which starts from Platform number 9, travels through Chengicherla – Uppal and Ramanthapur, at a frequency of 40 minutes. According to the schedule shared by the corporation, the first bus leaves from the terminus at 8.35 am and the last bus at 10.40 pm.  Besides this, the corporation has said that the bus number 250C starts leaves from Blue Sea Hotel in Sedunderabad to Cherlapally, is available every ten minutes starting from 4.00 am to 10.30 pm. Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) currently operates buses from Secunderabad and Mehdipatnam to the terminus, with officials confirming plans to introduce services from Uppal soon. Buses from Secunderabad currently serve Platform 1, passing through Tarnaka, Habsiguda, Mallapur, Nacharam, and Ashoknagar. The proposed Uppal service will provide direct access to Platform 9. Nearest metro station The nearest Hyderabad Metro Rail station is Habsiguda, nearly 11 km away. The Uppal station is around 12 km away. Cab fares On Monday evening, online cab booking platforms showed that a ride to the Cherlapalli Railway Terminal would cost approximately ₹160–₹200 from Habsiguda Metro Station and ₹190–₹260 from Uppal Metro Station. The footage shows passengers trying to board the train before it comes to a complete halt New Delhi: Days after a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus railway station left 10 people injured, CCTV footage shows passengers jostling to board an unreserved train just moments before, causing complete chaos on the platform. The stampede took place when large crowds tried to board the 22-coach unreserved Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express, which arrived from the railway yard around 2.44 am on Sunday. Such crowds are a common sight during the festive season. The security footage, purportedly from a CCTV camera on the north end of platform no 1 at Bandra Terminus, showed many passengers losing their footing while trying to board the train. It also shows a crush of passengers trying to enter the train before it comes to a complete halt; some are seen trying to squeeze in through an emergency exit window. Integrated Bus Terminus in Tiruchi likely to be inaugurated in July

MOORTHY With the construction work reaching the final stages, the Tiruchi City Corporation plans to open the Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur on the Tiruchi-Madurai Highway in July. It was with the aim of shifting the Central Bus Stand from Cantonment, which has been struggling to cope with the sharp increase in the number of passengers and private and State-owned buses, the Corporation decided to build an integrated bus terminus at Panjapur and began the construction work in October 2022. It is being taken up at an estimate of ₹349 crore. While the Corporation contributes ₹50 crore from its general fund, the grant from the State government stands at ₹140 crore and the Tamil Nadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin countered the Opposition’s claims regarding mismanagement at the newly opened Kalaignar Centenary bus terminus at Kilambakkam in Chengalpet district and invited legislators to visit the facility even as he promised to resolve issues if any. TNSTC officials assist long-distance commuters for a hassle-free travel to new bus terminus

Flex boards and banners with bus numbers, routes, destination, and timings were put up, and special help desks assisted commuters in the major depots such as Tiruvannamalai, Chengam, Chetpet, Kilpenathur, and Thandarampattu in the district. Commuters were informed that the buses bound for Chennai will be halted at the new bus terminus, and not the Koyambedu bus terminus. “Bus conductors also informed us about the new system. We will have to travel to the city from the new bus terminus,” said S. Kumar, a commuter.
