Soorma Hockey Club registers 4-1 thumping win over Rarh Bengal Tigers

Soorma Hockey Club began its Women’s Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25 campaign on a high as it beat Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers 4-1 in Ranchi on Monday. Olivia Shannon (38’), Charlotte Englebert (42’), Captain Salima Tete (44’) and Sonam (47’) scored for Soorma while Hannah Cotter (7’) got the only goal for the Tigers in the first quarter. Soorma Hockey Club started the tie on a good note as it held possession, controlled the tempo of the game and were creating good scoring opportunities in the early minutes. Despite its dominant showing, it was Rarh Bengal Tigers that drew first blood as it found a field goal in the 7th minute of the first quarter. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, 52, contesting her first election registered a thumping victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-poll on Saturday, defeating Communist Party of India (CPI)’s Sathyan Mokeri by a margin of 4,10,931 votes. She surpassed Rahul Gandhi’s victory margin of 364,000 votes this summer. In 2019, Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat by 431,000 votes.
