Not sure you win IPL at the auction, but you can certainly lose one there

4 min readUpdated: Jun 1, 2026 06:45 PM IST Soon after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their second successive IPL title, their all-rounder Krunal Pandya said the trophy was more or less won at the auction table two seasons ago. For a franchise that always came out with an imbalanced squad in the previous years, at the big auctions held before the 2025 season, they came back from the UAE with a strong, well-balanced team. Although there were doubts around the squad, in successive seasons, RCB have silenced the critics with their performance on the field. While head coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar have been at the centre of the revival, the arrival of Mo Bobat as the director of cricket is where it all started to change for the franchise. Soon after Bobat came on board, RCB roped in Flowers as coach, then opted for a change in captaincy and revamped their coaching personnel which includes Dinesh Karthik, Omkar Salvi among the likes. Asked about Pandya’s take, Bobat, downplayed it, but attributed the …

IPL 2026: Tim David returns as RCB’s finisher to face former team MI at Wankhede Stadium | Cricket News

When Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, the spotlight could fall on a familiar face in unfamiliar colours. For Tim David, it would be more than just another IPL game — it would be a return to a ground where he built his reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous finishers. From 2022 to 2024, David played 37 IPL matches for MI, scoring 658 runs at a strike rate of 170.80. At the Wankhede, his clean hitting and the stadium’s short boundaries made him a natural fit. But ahead of the 2025 season, the five-time champions chose to move on from him. David’s ability to clear the ropes, however, had not gone unnoticed among other franchises. RCB were looking to fill a void left by Dinesh Karthik’s retirement after IPL 2024, and in David, acquired for Rs 3 crore at the mega auction, they found the best possible replacement. 6️⃣6️⃣6️⃣ ! 🎥 Tim David goes berserk, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 three maximums in the over 🤩 Updates ▶️ …

Tim David’s whirlwind knock sets new death-over benchmark in IPL | Cricket News

2 min readApr 6, 2026 11:44 AM IST Tim David’s monstrous hits in the death overs of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s innings against the Chennai Super Kings on Monday in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) set up the defending champions’ big win and in the process, he ended up setting a new record in the tournament. David walked in to bat in the 15th over of the innings with the fall of Devdutt Padikkal and 25 deliveries he was unbeaten on a whopping 70 runs with three fours and as many as eight sixes. According to ESPNCricinfo, this is only the second time in T20s that a batter has scored as many runs after coming in to bat in the 15th over, where fall-of-wickets overs data is available. The other batter was Daniel Sams who had scored 71 against Sussex in 2022. David has also set a new record for most runs scored by a batter in the death overs (Overs 17-20) of an innings in an IPL match. The Australian scored 68 of his …

Australia’s power-packed batting unit must deliver in absence of Cummins and Hazlewood | Cricket News

4 min readColomboUpdated: Feb 10, 2026 07:07 PM IST A 3-0 whitewash in Pakistan, including a 111-run loss in the final game in Lahore, world-class fast bowlers missing out because of injury and only 13 players available for selection for their T20 World Cup opener against Ireland in Colombo on Wednesday — Australia are not in the best shape. This is the first ICC event in nearly a decade where Australia will be without Mitchell Starc (retired), Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood (both injured). The team will miss out on the trio’s knowledge of the conditions. They have travelled with a relatively inexperienced squad — Nathan Ellis with 32 caps is the most experienced among seamers alongside Xavier Bartlett (18) and Ben Dwarshuis (14). Beyond them the two all-rounders Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis have to do the heavy lifting. A late start to the tournament came as a blessing in disguise for fast bowler Ellis and spinner Adam Zampa. Both of them landed in Colombo with niggles but have now recovered. However, hard-hitting batsman …

Australia T20I tour of Pakistan: Injured Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood left out of last series before T20 World Cup | Cricket News

Australia have left out senior stars Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David from their final T20I assignment ahead of the World Cup during their three-match T20I series in Pakistan, starting later this month. Australia have named a 17-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Pakistan in Lahore. The roster features several new additions rewarded for their standout performances in the Big Bash League, most notably rising fast bowler Mahli Beardman (Perth Scorchers) and versatile talent Jack Edwards (Sydney Sixers). While both Beardman and Edwards have yet to make their international debuts, they gained experience earlier this summer as part of the Australian white-ball setup during India’s tour. Cummins, Hazlewood and David will now unite with the World Cup squad in Sri Lanka ahead of their league-stage opener against Ireland on February 11. Ten of the 17 players travelling to Pakistan are part of the World Cup squad. All three matches will be played in Lahore. Australia’s medical staff expects Hazlewood (hamstring/Achilles) and David (hamstring) to be ready for the World Cup opener …

IND vs AUS T20Is: Australia coach wants batting style to be tested against India | Cricket News

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald has said the upcoming T20 series against India will offer a good test as to whether their aggressive batting style can bring success. Since the last T20 World Cup in 2024, Australia have embraced an attacking approach with the bat which has seen them score at 10.07 runs per over, with all their batsmen having an improved strike-rate during the period. While they have beaten the likes of England, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa and New Zealand, the series against India beginning on Wednesday will offer a stiff challenge. With India having the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav – three X-factor bowlers in the sidfe – there is huge anticipation as to how the Australian batting unit will come up against this bowling line-up. Mumbai Dugout Caught Sending Signals to Batters

PBKS vs MI DRS Controversy: Mumbai Indians who have already fined INR 12 Lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate in their recent clash against Punjab Kings now hit with a new “DRS controversy”. Though the incident was not yet officially reported, it was fans who fumed at this event involving MI head coach, Tim David and Pollard. The incident took place in the final delivery of the 14th over bowled by Arshdeep Singh. Mumbai Indians who were forced to bat first scored 125 runs for 2 wickets at that stage. While Suryakumar Yadav was batting at 63, Arshdeep Singh bowled a delivery which landed just wide of the outside off stump for which the onfield umpire remained silent. But MI’s head coach Mark Boucher reacted by signalling WIDE from the dugout and seemed to suggest the batters to take a review. But the batters remained unnoticed but soon Kieron Pollard and MI batter Tim David joined the scene and suggested the batters to take review by signalling with their hands. This move was noticed by …

Romario Shepherd smacked 32 in last over for Mumbai, while Tristan Stubbs left stranded at non-striker’s, as Delhi falter | Ipl News

Synopsis: After four matches, Mumbai Indians finally have their first win of the season, with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan setting up the 235 target before Romario Shepherd whacked 32 in the last over. Prithvi Shaw batted superbly for Delhi, but Tristan Stubbs’ power-hitting tottered as he didn’t face a single ball in the final over as they lost by 29 runs. Only one question was the focus ahead of Mumbai Indians’ home match against Delhi Captials at the Wankhede on Sunday — will the home support boo their new skipper Hardik Pandya? The Indian all-rounder was in the eye of a booing storm since the start of this season’s IPL, having been promoted to captain of the side after his transfer from Gujarat Titans. The 5-time IPL champion’s fanbase wasn’t pleased with the way the franchise sidelined their skipper Rohit Sharma and were quite vocal in venting out their frustration against Pandya. What worked in Pandya’s favour was that the afternoon match against DC was Mumbai Indians’ Education Sports for All day, meaning there …
