Researchers have captured the first-ever photographic evidence of a snow leopard in the Dhauladhar Wildlife Sanctuary in Himachal Pradesh, marking a significant milestone for wildlife conservation in the region. Although the elusive big cat has long featured on the sanctuary’s official logo, this is the first time it has been recorded on camera within the protected area. The discovery confirms the presence of one of the world’s rarest and most elusive predators in the sanctuary, often referred to as the “Ghost of the Mountains” because of its ability to move unnoticed across rugged Himalayan terrain.
