Image Source : PTI (FILE) Tirupati Temple The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has taken action against 18 employees for not following Hindu religious practices during TTD festivals and rituals. According to a statement from TTD, the action was taken under the direction of TTD Chairman BR Naidu.  “Following the directions of TTD Chairman BR Naidu, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated action against employees adhering to non-Hindu religious practices while working in the institution,” the statement read. “Authorities have identified 18 employees who, despite being employed by TTD, are following non-Hindu religious traditions. Orders have been issued for disciplinary action against 18 identified employees who are participating in non-Hindu religious activities while also taking part in TTD festivals and rituals,” added the statement. ‘Transfer or retire’ In addition, as part of efforts to maintain the spiritual integrity of TTD’s operations, the Board has proposed transferring these employees to other government departments or offering them voluntary retirement. “The TTD Board has recently resolved to either transfer such employees to government departments or facilitate their exit …

Poornachandra Kumar Tirupati has been witnessing a high influx of devotees over the past three days, in view of the annual Brahmotsavams currently under way at Tirumala hills. The railway station and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) central bus station are overflowing with passengers and scores of guest houses, cottages and choultries in the city are overbooked. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made elaborate lighting arrangements across the temple city, especially in the buildings owned by it. Image Source : FILE PHOTO Tirupati Laddu row: Supreme Court to hear pleas seeking court-monitored probe today The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear several petitions today, including those seeking a court-supervised probe into allegations of use of animal fats in the manufacture of Tirupati laddu. The hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, was adjourned on Friday morning at the request of Attorney General Tushar Mehta. Chief Minister’s allegations spark debate The issue stems from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s public statement on the former Y.S. Government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. The statement triggered a political debate, with the YSR Congress party accusing Naidu of making unsubstantiated allegations for political gain. Supreme Court questions Chief Minister’s timing In an earlier hearing on September 30, the Supreme Court referred to Naidu’s public statement that it came before the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) before filing an official FIR and ordered caution on politically charged cases. TTD begins plantation drive in Tirumala

Shyamala Rao. | Photo Credit: File Photo In an attempt to boost the green cover atop the temple town, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) initiated an extensive plantation drive on Friday. TTD Executive Officer (EO) J. Shyamala Rao, accompanied by Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, participated in the ‘Vana Mahotsavam’ programme organised by the TTD Forest Wing. They planted the manu sampangi (magnolia champaca) at the Sri Padmavathi Rest House area. Speaking to the media, Mr. Rao said that a total of 12,000 saplings will be planted, with 2,000 within the TTD forest cover and the remaining within the reserve forest area. Advanced technologies, particularly the ‘Seed Bowl Concept,’ will be implemented within the plantation drive, he said. Highlighting the connection between the plantation drive and TTD Ayurvedic College and Hospital, he also mentioned the plan to develop medicinal plants in Tirumala. TTD Deputy Conservator of Forests Srinivasulu, Deputy Executive Officers Bhaskar and Asha Jyothi, Health Officer Madhusudhan Prasad and other officials took part in the programme. Source link
