The reservation system for SRIVANI darshan tickets operates on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis, says Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. | Photo Credit: File Photo In a strong rebuttal to social media claims surrounding the booking of SRIVANI Trust darshan tickets, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Wednesday urged devotees not to fall prey to misinformation and unscrupulous middlemen Clarifying about the functioning of the SRIVANI ticket booking mechanism, the TTD stated that the online system, introduced in May 2019, has undergone major technological upgrades to ensure greater transparency, security and convenience for devotees seeking darshan at the Tirumala temple. The SRIVANI booking portal is fully secure and cannot be hacked or illegally infiltrated under any circumstances, the TTD said. However, it acknowledged that certain brokers and organised intermediaries were attempting to misuse advanced technologies, including AI-driven auto-filling and rapid auto-copying tools, to gain an unfair advantage during the booking process. The TTD said its technical teams were maintaining round-the-clock surveillance to detect suspicious activity, identify fraudulent IDs and block illegal booking methods in real time. The software …

At the 22nd convocation of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati as the chief guest, Mr Nazeer presented degrees to 2,591 female students who completed their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses. Of these, 121 researchers received PhD degrees, 99 received gold medals, and two got silver medals. The Governor also gave away books and cash prizes. DRDO former scientist Sasikala Sinha was conferred with honorary doctorate. The ticket issue counter of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Alipiri on Thursday saw heavy rush due to the weekend, coupled with the Vaikuntha Ekadasi festival and Christmas holidays, leading jostling among the devotees. With the 15,000 Slotted Sarva Darshan tickets being booked in no time, desperate pilgrims got enraged and rushed to the Divya Darshan counters, creating tense situation. Tirupati stampede: The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday (January 9) announced compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of the six devotees who died in the stampede on Wednesday night (January 8) during the distribution of tickets for a sacred event at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad said, “We cannot replace life with anything else but we will support the families. We have announced Rs 25 lakhs.The CM will talk to the injured people…”. Revenue minister Satya Prasad made the announcement after a ministerial team called on the families of the deceased at Ruia Hospital. The incidents were reported on January 8 at different locations in the city, highlighting the challenges posed by overcrowding during the annual religious festival. The first case involved R. Malliga, 50, a resident of Tamil Nadu’s Mettur Salem district, who collapsed in a queue for darshan tokens at Vishnunivasam. A complaint was filed by P. Srinivasulu, a Tahsildar from Balaiahpalli Mandal, stating that Malliga fainted amidst a rush of devotees. The FIR mentioned, “When other devotees rushed towards queue line in that time due her ill health she fell on the ground.” The second FIR, lodged by M. Jayaramulu, 61, a Tahsildar from Narayanavanam Mandal, reported the deaths of five more devotees. The victims included Smt. Tirupati: Sharing their account of tragic stampede in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati, eyewitnesses have recalled the horrific incident that killed at least six people.  A woman who went to Tirupati with 20 of her family members said, “As soon as the Police officials opened the gate, the pilgrims rushed to purchase tokens. There was no such system for obtaining tokens earlier.” While speaking to the reporters, she said, “A stampede occurred due to the heavy rush. Out of twenty members of my family, six have been injured. We joined the queue at 11 o’clock. While waiting in the queue, we were provided with milk and biscuits. Six people died in a stampede at Vishnu Niwasam at Tirupati during the distribution of tokens for Vaikuntha Dwara Sarvadarshanam – a special ‘darshan’ for devotees for a period of 10 days, starting Friday. A massive rush of devotees attempting to secure tokens resulted in the stampede. One of the devotees was from Tamil Nadu’s Salem. Sixteen people were injured during the incident and were taken to the Ruia Hospital for treatment. Visuals showed heavy police presence in the area and several people being shifted to ambulances. Witnesses said as many as 60 people fell on each other while collecting tokens at the counter. The massive rush led to the stampede. Some devotees alleged that there was negligence on the part of the police. The explosion, accompanied by a loud noise, created panic in the nearby villages. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large fireball erupt from the plant, followed by several smaller blasts. The Vaikunta Dwaram of the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will remain open for devotees from January 10 to January 19. | Photo Credit: File Photo The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced that online tickets for the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan at the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will be available for booking from 11 a.m. on December 23, while the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan (SED) tickets will be available online from 11 a.m. on December 24. The Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) tokens, widely availed of by the common pilgrims, will be distributed at Kousthubham Guesthouse in Tirumala and eight designated counters in Tirupati. The auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi will be celebrated at the Tirumala temple on January 10, 2025 and the Vaikunta Dwaram, the inner-most passage encircling the sanctum sanctorum, will remain open for devotees from January 10 to January 19.
