The School Education Department on Monday felicitated meritorious students who excelled in the 2026 SSC and Intermediate Public Examinations at separate Shining Stars-2026 award ceremonies held in Alluri Sitarama Raju and Anakapalli districts. In ASR district, the programme was held at the S.R. Sankaran Auditorium in Kummariputtu, Paderu. Joint Collector Tirumani Sri Pooja inaugurated the event along with former Paderu MLA Giddi Eswari and other officials. Addressing students, Ms. Sri Pooja said sustained hard work, dedication and proper planning were the keys to success, while speakers urged students to remain consistent, develop alternative career plans and pursue emerging opportunities. Students from several mandals, including Paderu, Araku Valley, Chintapalli, G.K. Veedhi, Pedabayalu, Ananthagiri, Dumbriguda, G. Madugula, Koyyuru and Munchingiputtu, were honoured for securing top ranks. In Anakapalli, the awards were presented at Pentakota Convention Hall in the presence of district in-charge Minister Kollu Ravindra, Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, Collector Vijaya Krishnan and legislators. The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2026 on Thursday. As many as 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied health science courses across the country. Aspirants leave from exam centre after appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, in New Delhi. (ANI) The NTA conducted the examination on June 21 at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the test, which was held in 13 languages. In an official statement, the agency said more than 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are women. It added that candidates from almost all states and union territories secured qualifying marks. A total of 138 candidates scored 690 marks or above out of 720. More than 93 per cent of these candidates appeared for NEET (UG) for the first time. JOTHI RAMALINGAM Computer science and engineering (CSE) seems to be the subject of choice for a large majority of rank holders coming under the horizontal reservation category (7.5% for students who passed from government schools) in the Tamil Nadu Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026. Interestingly, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, has emerged the preferred destination for at least half of the toppers, replacing the College of Engineering, Guindy, which has been their first choice in the past. The reason for the shift, according to candidates, ranged from feedback from seniors to presence of close relatives in the textile city. K. There will be no merit list this time, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said as it declared Class 10 results on Wednesday, April 15. The CBSE stated that, as per the earlier decision of the Board to “avoid unhealthy competition amongst the students, no merit list is declared by the CBSE.” The statement also noted that the Board does not award first, second or third divisions to its students. Top 0.1% will get a merit certificate However, it said that the Board will issue the merit certificate to the top 0.1% of students who have scored the highest marks in the subjects. “The Merit certificate will be made available in the Digi-Locker of the student concerned after second Board examinations,” the CBSE said.
