This is also the second highest temperature to have been recorded in the State since 2016. According to data compiled by the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), Piduguralla’s temperatures remained below 45.5°C between the years 2016 and 2025. The town’s lowest maximum temperature was 42°C, recorded in 2016 and its highest maximum temperature during this time was 45.5°C, recorded in 2019. Piduguralla’s temperature on Thursday is also the second highest to have been recorded in the State, after Velingandla in Prakasam district which saw 48.6°C on May 2, 2016. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan has recorded an unprecedented spike in temperatures, setting a new April record at 46.4 degrees Celsius. This surpasses the previous high of 46.3 degrees registered on April 18, 2025, marking one of the most intense heat episodes in recent years.  Over the past 24 hours, maximum temperatures across all major cities in the state exceeded 40 degrees. New Delhi: Ending the cool start to summer, the Capital recorded its warmest day of the season on Tuesday. Safdarjung, Delhi’s base station, recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C–two degrees above normal. This eclipsed the previous season-high of 36.8°C recorded on April 2 and March 11. The minimum temperature was 18.2°C on Tuesday. However, no heatwave alert has been issued for Delhi yet. “The maximum is likely to hover between 38-40°C on Wednesday, between 39-41°C on Thursday and remain between 40-42°C till Saturday or Sunday,” said an IMD official, adding that clear skies will be seen in Delhi-NCR till the weekend. “We had strong surface winds in the region on Sunday and Monday. The supply of domestic LPG across India remains stable, with the sale of 5 kg cylinders witnessing a sharp rise, particularly among migrant workers. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, over 1.1 lakh small LPG cylinders were sold on Monday alone, taking the cumulative total to 14.3 lakh since March 23, reported IANS. The increase reflects a significant surge in demand for smaller cylinders, which are widely used by migrant labourers for cooking purposes.
