Kakinada sports club members invite SAAP chief for hockey tourney

Members of Kakinada Coastal Sports Club met Sports Authority of A.P. (SAAP) chairperson A. Ravi Naidu at the SAAP office in Vijayawada on Monday and invited him to participate as the chief guest in the Kakinada Gold Cup Hockey Tournament-2026, to be held from February 4 to 14. The club members informed Mr. Ravi Naidu that a modern hockey academy, worth ₹2.5 crore, would be established Kakinada, which will meet national standards and ensure development of hockey places in the State. Mr. Ravi Naidu congratulated the club founders, Ravi Chandra Prasad and A. Babji, for their contribution to sports, and unveiled medals to be given to winners of the tournament. Mangalagiri skater Jessy Raj shines in national tourney

A young skater from Mangalagiri, Jessy Raj Mathrapu, has added another medal to her collection with the winning of a silver medal in the Solo Dance category in the 62nd National Roller Skating Championships, held at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu from December 5 to 10. More than a thousand athletes from all across the country participated in the competition, where Jessy Raj represented Andhra Pradesh in the 14-17 age category. She has been receiving training for various competitions at the Victory Skating Association in Mangalagiri for the past few years. Jessy Raj has so far received 50 medals, including the latest. Surya Charishma from the State winning the gold medal in the Girls’ Individual category and Suveer Pradhan from Maharashtra emerging as the winner in the Boys’ Individual category. The winners were announced by chief guest NTR District Joint Collector P. Sampath Kumar during the closing ceremony. As many as 325 players from 25 States and eight Union Territories participated in the event.
