Police in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar have rescued 15 girls and arrested 11 people, including three brokers from Mumbai, days after busting a child trafficking gang. Police said brokers pocketed most of the money earned from trafficking. (X) Jhalawar police superintendent Amit Kumar said that 10 girls were rescued last Friday, and that they found bank transactions among the brokers related to the trafficking. “Their properties and bank details are being checked,” Kumar said. Kumar said police raids forced the traffickers to hand over some of the girls to their families. He added that the accused have been booked under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Kumar said the gang targeted poor, indebted families, primarily from the Kanjar community, and purchased girls by promising jobs and financial assistance for their daughters. “The children were to be kept under the gang’s control until they turned 11, after which they were to be sold for prostitution in cities such as Mumbai,” he said. “Most of the rescued girls are aged between four and five.” Police said brokers pocketed most of …

Odisha police arrest one person from Uttar Pradesh in connection with trafficking of minor girl

The Odisha police have arrested a man from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the trafficking and forcible marriage of a minor tribal girl. Authorities said that the investigation will be expanded to bring more individuals involved under its scope. The girl, lured with the promise of a job, was trafficked from Kankadahad area in Dhenkanal district to Jhansi by a middleman. In her complaint to Kamakshyanagar police station, she alleged that she was sold to two families in Jhansi and subjected to sexual assault by multiple men over a period of nearly two years. Police confirmed that Binay Patra, accused of sending the girl to Jhansi, had already been arrested earlier. The latest arrest is of Chandrapal Kushwah (26), who confessed to marrying the minor after spending ₹30,000 on the ceremony. “When the girl is a minor, the marriage’s legitimacy does not arise,” said Jitendra Mallick, Inspector-in-Charge of Kamakshyanagar police station. A special team of the Odisha police on Saturday arrested the prime accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi in connection with alleged trafficking and prolonged sexual assault of a 17-year-old tribal girl from Dhenkanal district. Having faced social stigma and pressure within the family after trying and failing multiple times to conceive a baby, the couple approached a woman, Farheena, in Krishna district, who is allegedly a part of a child trafficking gang. The couple procured a baby from Farheena and returned to their native village in Krishna district. National Anti Doping Act to criminalise trafficking of prohibited substances to athletes

The recently-amended National Anti Doping Act will be modified once again to criminalise trafficking and distribution of prohibited substances to athletes with a jail term of upto five years for suppliers, targeting even medical practitioners if they knowingly prescribe banned drugs. Proposed amendments have been uploaded on the Sports Ministry’s website for feedback from the public with the deadline for submission being June 18. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the amended bill will be tabled during the monsoon session of the Parliament after taking the feedback into consideration. (Photo: US Department of Justice) A federal court in California has sentenced Punjab-origin Jashanpreet Singh, founder of the “Punjabi Devils” motorcycle club, to five years and four months in prison for illegally dealing firearms and possessing a machine gun, a statement released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said. Singh, 27, a resident of Lodi, California, was sentenced by US district judge Dale A Drozd. The sentencing was announced by US attorney Eric Grant. According to court documents, Singh founded the Stockton-based “Punjabi Devils” motorcycle club, which authorities described as an outlaw biker gang associated with the Hells Angels. Federal investigators said that on June 6, 2025, Singh attempted to sell several illegal weapons to an undercover officer. The cache allegedly included a short-barreled rifle, three assault weapons, three machine-gun conversion devices, and a revolver. A subsequent search of Singh’s residence led officers to recover additional firearms, including a machine gun, another machine-gun conversion device and a silencer. …

Twenty-one children were rescued from a railway station in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Sunday, and a suspected trafficker was detained, officials said.
