Training aircraft crashes in Baramati; trainee pilot escapes safely
A training aircraft operated by Redbird crashed due to a technical snag in Maharashtra’s Baramati on Wednesday, officials said. The incident took place near Gojubavi village, adjacent to the Baramati airstrip area, triggering panic in the area. The incident occurred at 8.50 am, Pune Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill told PTI. Aircraft was flying at low altitude before crash landing, say eyewitnesses “As per preliminary information received from eyewitnesses, the aircraft was flying at a comparatively low altitude when it developed a technical malfunction. During the crash landing, one side of the aircraft reportedly hit a light pole before it struck the ground,” he said. Trainee pilot escapes unhurt According to preliminary reports, the trainee pilot onboard escaped safely and did not suffer any major injuries. The exact cause of the crash, however, is yet to be ascertained. Investigation underway Police and local authorities rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation.
