A training aircraft operated by Redbird crashed due to a technical snag in Maharashtra’s Baramati on Wednesday, officials said. The incident took place near Gojubavi village, adjacent to the Baramati airstrip area, triggering panic in the area. The incident occurred at 8.50 am, Pune Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill told PTI. Aircraft was flying at low altitude before crash landing, say eyewitnesses “As per preliminary information received from eyewitnesses, the aircraft was flying at a comparatively low altitude when it developed a technical malfunction. During the crash landing, one side of the aircraft reportedly hit a light pole before it struck the ground,” he said. Trainee pilot escapes unhurt According to preliminary reports, the trainee pilot onboard escaped safely and did not suffer any major injuries. The exact cause of the crash, however, is yet to be ascertained. Eshwar Khandre | Photo Credit: File photo Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre on Tuesday visited the residence of trainee veterinarian Dr. Sameeksha Reddy, who was killed in a hippopotamus attack at Tyavarekoppa Tiger and Lion Safari in Shivamogga last week. The minister who visited Dr. Sameeksha’s residence in Sakalavara near Anekal offered condolences to her family members. Mr. Khandre noted that a request was made by Dr. Sameeksha’s parents Dhruvakumar and Shailaja Reddy to build a memorial in their daughter’s name. He said that this request will be examined. “The family has requested that the compensation amount given to her be instead used to build a memorial in their daughter’s name. There has also been a suggestion to name an elephant after her. All these matters will be examined,” he said. The parents of a trainee athlete who was found dead at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel in Kollam have alleged that their daughter was unhappy and fed up with staying at the sports facility. Sandra A., 18, from Kozhikode and Vyshnavi V., 15, from Thiruvananthapuram were found dead in their hostel room on January 15. The police said preliminary investigation pointed to personal issues behind the deaths. Sandra’s mother, Sindhu, told reporters on Saturday that her daughter had often told the family that she was fed up with living at the SAI facility. She said Sandra had expressed her wish to return home after her Plus Two examinations and pursue a physiotherapy course. “Due to our situation, I used to ask her to continue there,” she added. Puja told the police that one of the servants, a native of Nepal, whom her family recently hired, administered sedatives to her and her parents, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, rendered them unconscious, tied them up, and decamped with their mobile phones and some valuables. A major tragedy was averted on Monday evening in Madhya Pradesh`s Seoni district when a training aircraft almost collided with a high-voltage power line during flight and crashed near Sukatra village in the Kurai police station area of Seoni district.   The incident, according to police occurred at around 6:30 p.m.  The incident triggered panic in the locality as villagers rushed to the spot and rescued both the trainer (pilot) and trainee safely.  A video of the crash quickly went viral on social media.  Speaking to IANS, C.S. Tekam, Investigation Officer at Kurai Police Station, said, “Both the trainer and trainee are out of danger. They have been taken to a private hospital.
