New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed concern over poor translation of documents for filing appeals in legal aid matters and directed high courts across the country to seriously examine and decide the issue within four weeks. SC flags poor quality of translation of documents, directs HCs to seriously examine issue A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and N Kotiswar Singh passed the direction while approving a Standard Operating Procedure for translation and transmission of records for filing legal aid appeals. “We may observe that the poor quality of translation has engaged the attention of this Court, recently, on quite a few occasions, indicating that some sort of structural change is necessitated in this regard. The respective High Court may seriously examine and take a decision within a time-bound period, i.e., not more than four weeks,” the bench said.
