All eyes on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as India A gear up for tri-series in Dambulla

Under the Dambulla sun, a youthful India A squad, featuring a few experienced names, will begin their quest on Tuesday to strengthen their claims for the senior ODI setup as attention turns from T20 to the 50-over format. The squad is largely built around IPL performers, and led by newly-appointed T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma. The main spotlight, however, will be on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The selectors have seen enough to include him in the senior T20I setup for the upcoming tours. Another big harvest of runs in the next two-and-a-half weeks could only improve his chances of perhaps entering the 50-over squads as well. The stage is set! 🏆 The trophy for the Sri Lanka, India & Afghanistan ‘A’ Team Tri-Nation Series was officially unveiled at RDICS, Dambulla. Mystery spinner Usman Tariq’s hat-trick, Babar Azam’s half century propel Pakistan into tri-series final | Cricket News

Mystery spinner Usman Tariq claimed a hat-trick as Pakistan barged into the T20 tri-series final with a 69-run victory over Zimbabwe on Sunday. Tariq worked his magic in the 10th over, reducing Zimbabwe from 60-4 to 60-7 in the span of three deliveries at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Tariq had Tony Munyonga caught at short fine leg to start his rout. Then on the next ball he clean bowled Tashinga Musekiwa before Babar Azam leapt on a catch at mid-off to send back Wellington Masakadza and give off-spinner Tariq his hat trick. For good measure, he also claimed the wicket of Tinotenda Maposa, bowling the player with a googly. I wasn’t expecting …
