Trump inauguration: Donald Trump was sworn in on Monday for his second term as the President of the United States and made bold proclamations about America’s future in his fiery inaugural address. After taking over as the 47th President of the US, Trump declared January 20 as “Liberation Day,” promising smooth and sweeping changes as he proclaimed, “America’s decline is over” and that the “golden age” of the nation had just begun. Trump set for sentencing over hush money case, Judge suggests no jail time | World News

Donald Trump is set to be sentenced on January 10 for his hush-money case in New York, just before his anticipated inauguration as president. This comes after Trump failed to have his conviction overturned, with the judge signaling that he won’t face prison time. Justice Juan Merchan has indicated that Trump is unlikely to face jail time, probation, or a fine. Instead, the judge is expected to grant a “conditional discharge,” meaning Trump could avoid serious penalties. Trump may attend the sentencing either in person or virtually, as reported by BBC.  The case stems from a $130,000 (£105,000) payment made by Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult-film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign to prevent her from speaking out about an alleged affair with Trump. Trump was convicted in May of 34 felony counts for falsifying business records connected to the payment. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing, arguing the case is politically motivated and aimed at damaging his 2024 presidential bid. His spokesperson, Steven Cheung, condemned the legal proceedings as a …
