Image Source : PTI Jagdish Tytler In a significant development, Congress leader Jagdish Tytler and arms dealer Abhishek Verma were on Tuesday acquitted by Rouse Avenue Court in the face viosa case. Both of them were accused in the case of issuing fake visas to Chinese citizens on fake letterhead of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had refused to quash the charges against Jagdish Tytler and Abhishek Verma in a case alleging that the duo had forged a letter addressed to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2009.  One plea filed before the court had challenged an order passed by the Trial Court in December, 2015, wherein the duo was directed to face trial for the case.  In this matter, the Supreme Court had earlier granted an extension of six months to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the completion of a trial involving Jagdish Tytler and arms dealer Abhishek Verma. Her husband Badal Singh and two others were killed in the riots outside Pul Bangash Gurudwara on November 1, 1984. The Rouse Avenue court had framed charges against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on September 13.  Now the matter has been listed on October 15 for her cross-examination by Tytler’s counsel. She deposed that she was told by Granthi Surender Singh that her husband Badal Singh was killed by the mob at Gurudwara Pul Bangash and Tytler was inciting the rioters. Sometime in the early 1970s, Rajiv Gandhi’s two-wheeler had developed a snag and would not start after one of his lessons at the Delhi Flying Club. A young man, also taking flying lessons at the club, had reportedly come to his rescue. He took Rajiv’s bike to Laxmi Bai Nagar in South Delhi, where one of his friends fixed it. The man at the flying club was Jagdish Tytler, while the one who fixed the vehicle was Arjun Dass. Tytler and Dass later went on to become Congressmen and Rajiv’s friends. On Friday, the Rouse Avenue court ordered the framing of charges against Tytler for allegedly inciting mobs to kill Sikhs near the Pul Bangash Gurudwara in Delhi during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots following the assassination of Indira Gandhi. Image Source : PTI (FILE) Jagdish Tytler. 1984 anti-Sikh riots case: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today (August 30) ordered the framing of charges for murder and other offences against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in a case related to the alleged murder of three people in the north Delhi’s Pul Bangash area during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Special CBI judge Rakesh Siyal said there was sufficient evidence against him to put him on trial. “Sufficient ground is there to proceed against the accused person,” the judge said. A witness had earlier submitted in the charge sheet that Tytler came out of a white Ambassador car in front of the Gurdwara Pul Bangash on November 1, 1984 and instigated a mob by saying “Kill the Sikhs, they have killed our mother,” following which three people were killed. The court ordered framing of charges for several offences, including unlawful assembly, rioting, promoting enmity between different groups, house trespass and theft.
