Punjab govt orders removal of unclaimed, confiscated vehicles from city areas| India News

Chandigarh, The Punjab government on Sunday issued a directive for the systematic removal and relocation of all scrapped, abandoned, unclaimed, and confiscated vehicles lying at police station premises and other government lands within city limits to designated yards outside urban areas. All such vehicles parked in police stations, traffic police yards, municipal properties, and along city roads for prolonged periods shall be shifted to identified vehicle yards located outside city limits within 30 days, Arora said in a statement. Joint teams of the police, municipal corporations, traffic police, and district administrations have been directed to conduct an immediate survey, prepare a detailed inventory, and ensure time-bound execution of this order, the statement said. One more person died in a suspected case of food poisoning linked to sweets found in an unclaimed bag outside a government office in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, two men, Dasru Yaduvanshi (53) and Sunderlal Kathuria (75), who were suspected to have consuming the same sweets, had died. The latest victim, 22-year-old Khushboo Kharetwal, died early Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Nagpur. Two others, who is believed to have consumed the sweets, continue to battle for life at a private hospital. According to officials at AIIMS Nagpur, Khushboo was brought to the hospital late Tuesday night and was declared dead around 6 am on Wednesday. “The provisional cause of death is food poisoning leading to multi-organ failure. Samples have been sent for chemical analysis,” an official told The Indian Express. Two of the victims died in Madhya Pradesh, while Khushboo had been referred to Nagpur for advanced treatment, the official added. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday that Delhi government will work with banks to return the unclaimed money of people lying in their accounts, through special camps under ‘Apki Punji, Apka Adhikar’ (Your Money, Your Right) campaign. Gupta attended a camp organised as part of the campaign of the Union Finance ministry, at Dr Ambedkar International Centre. She said more such camps will be set up in the coming days.
