The Andaman and Nicobar administration on Saturday set a new Guinness World Record by unfurling the world’s largest underwater national flag at Radhanagar beach. The massive Tricolour, measuring approximately 60 by 40 metre, was deployed beneath the sea in a complex, tightly coordinated operation, involving multiple agencies and trained divers at Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island). Republic Day 2026: Om Birla unfurls Tricolour, calls for ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047

 On the occasion of Republic Day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday unfurled the Tricolour at his residence and said that the day is an opportunity to make firm resolutions to make the country a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by the time India completes 100 years of Independence.  Speaking to reporters, Om Birla said, “The day of January 26 is a matter of pride for all countrymen. He also accepted the guard of honour accorded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel. The Chief Justice also distributed certificates to 51 High Court employees who had completed 25 years of service and distributed commendation certificates to five CISF personnel. He also gave away merit certificates to 10 personnel belonging to the Tamil Nadu State police. Students from Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the Blind performed a goup song as part of the celebrations and the CISF personnel made a demonstration of various activities carried by them in order to be prepared to meet security-related exigencies. Guv VK Singh unfurls Mizoram`s tallest national flag

Mizoram Governor VK Singh on Wednesday unfurled a monumental national flag at the Assam Rifles base at Zokhawsang on the eastern outskirts of Aizawl. Unfurling the Tricolour on a 108-ft pole, the tallest in the state, Singh said it was a moment of historic significance for Mizoram. He lauded the Assam Rifles and the Flag Foundation of India for selecting Zokhawsang as the site, stating that the unfurling of the Tricolour on Christmas Eve reflected harmony, hope, and unity among the people. Home Minister K Sapdanga, who spoke on the occasion, said the national flag represents unity, patriotism, selfless sacrifice, and hope for a brighter future. “The Tricolour evokes memories of India`s freedom struggle and instils deep love for the nation, with the monumental flag further strengthening patriotic sentiments,” he said. Anamika Sharma, an Uttar Pradesh-based skydiver, created history by hoisting the Mahakumbh flag at 13,000 ft over Bangkok days before Mahakumbh, the world’s biggest religious event, started in Prayagraj on Monday, with over 40 crore devotees taking sacred dips at the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Sharma, who hails from Prayagraj, performed the adventure on January 8, a viral video of which has earned her praise online. It shows Sharma flaunting the Mahakumbh flag before taking off in the sky. She can be seen jumping from a plane and unfurling the flag. “Inviting people all over the globe for world’s largest human gathering-Mahakumbh 2025,” Sharma captioned the video.
