Priyanka Gandhi attacks BJP-RSS over jersey row Speaking in the Parliament complex, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the controversy reflected a broader attempt by the BJP and the RSS to reshape institutions and history. “They may change uniforms and even history through the RSS-influenced education policy, but they must understand what the youth of this country think,” she said. The promotional clip, released on Monday, features fresh footage from the film, with Vijay seen in multiple action sequences, handling firearms, and ending with a shot of him in a police uniform. The video marks a significant moment in the film’s troubled journey to theatres. The only updates in the interim were official statements about the release date, poster reveals, and single releases, including the fifth single “Adiye En Poonthene” which dropped on July 17. No more neckties: Why Haryana schools will see an urgent uniform policy change | Chandigarh News

3 min readChandigarhJul 12, 2026 04:57 PM IST Days after a seven-year-old boy in Bhiwani accidentally strangled himself while playing with his elder brother’s school tie, the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Friday urged all schools to discontinue the use of conventional neckties as a mandatory part of school uniforms. The directive applies immediately to all government, government-aided, private, and recognised institutions. Commission Chairperson Tripti confirmed the advisory, telling The Indian Express that similar incidents had previously been reported in Haryana’s Sonipat and in parts of Rajasthan. “Sometimes, fatal accidents happen when children, while playing in a light mood, casually pick up these neckties,” she said. The advisory stated, “Where a necktie is considered necessary to maintain uniformity or discipline, schools should adopt clip‑on (breakaway) or Velcro (quick‑release) neckties.” It further said, “Until such alternatives are adopted, schools should ensure that conventional neckties are not worn during sports, physical education classes, playground activities or any other activity involving a risk of entanglement.” The Commission also directed schools to sensitise teachers, students, and …

After username row, MeitY eyes uniform standards for messaging apps

After username row, MeitY eyes uniform standards for messaging apps

The ministry of electronics and information technology (Meity) is working on common standards for messaging platforms operating in India, as it moves to formally oppose WhatsApp’s proposed username feature over concerns that it could fuel impersonation, online fraud and digital arrest scams while making law enforcement investigations more difficult, a government official familiar with the matter told HT. India News “We are not in favour of WhatsApp introducing this feature. Given its massive user base in India, usernames could make impersonation, digital arrest scams, online fraud and even investigations by law enforcement more difficult,” the official said. WhatsApp has more than three billion users worldwide, and India is among its largest markets. The push for a common standard amounts to an attempt to close a newly discovered regulatory gap: right now, the ministry has stopped one platform’s feature while rivals offer the same thing, without a rule that explicitly permits or denies such action “We are also looking at bringing in common standards for messaging platforms so there is legal backing for such decisions. It …

Kangana Ranaut calls nursing ‘most sexualised profession’: ‘Their uniform is very British’ | Bollywood News

4 min readMumbaiJun 8, 2026 09:24 AM IST Last week, Kangana Ranaut unveiled the trailer of her upcoming film, Manoj Tapadia’s period crime thriller Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, in which she plays a nurse at Cama Hospital, one of the targets during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. The film showcases how valuable the nurses’ contribution was at keeping the hospital operational and the patients safe despite the terror strike. Having played a nurse, Kangana maintains that it’s not an easy profession and is in need of multiple reforms, from the pay structure to even the uniform. “More than their lives, there should be change in what people feel towards them. It’s the most sexualised profession. People dress up as a nurse on Halloween, and crack jokes on them. They’re underpaid, overworked, and sexualised,” said Kangana. “There was a dialogue in our film where two people look at the nurse and say, ‘Time mila toh do-chaar baatein bhi kar lo.’ We couldn’t keep that line due to time constraints. But that’s the reality. We don’t …
