Amazon and Universal Music Group Expand Partnership to Address ‘Unlawful AI-Generated Content’

Amazon and Universal Music Group (UMG) announced the expansion of their partnership on Monday. Among other topics, the two entities highlighted that the collaboration will focus on the advancement of artist-centric principles including increased fraud protection. While both the companies had a collaborative agreement in place, the new partnership expands its scope and includes product innovation, exclusive content rights with UMG artists, as well as a hollistic policy to address the issue of unlawful artificial intelligence (AI) content in the music industry. Amazon and UMG to Tackle AI Issues in Music Industry In a press release, UMG announced an expanded collaboration with Amazon that addresses several issues in the music industry, including AI-generated content which mimics the voice and likeness of an artist. NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday extended the ban on the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) for five years for continuing to work to secede Assam from India and maintain links with other insurgent groups for extortion and violence, according to a notification issued by the ministry. The ministry of home affairs issued the notification under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act on Monday (HT File PHOTO) The outfit was first banned in 1990 and since then the ban has been extended periodically. It was last banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, of 1967 on November 27, 2019. Home Ministry declares Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council ‘unlawful association’ for five years – India TV

New Delhi: In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday declared Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) along with all its factions, wings and front organisations as an unlawful association with immediate effect from the November 16, 2024 for a period of five years. The Home Ministry in its notification dated November 13 stated that HNLC and its factions engage in activities that endanger India’s sovereignty, including efforts for secession, extortion, and ties with other insurgent groups.  The development comes as the HNLC is accused of involvement in 48 criminal cases, including explosive attacks, over recent years. Earlier, the Meghalaya government had recommended the ban, which the MHA implemented under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967.  Source link

OpenAI’s GPT Store Runs Into Trouble With Spam, Impersonation, and Unlawful Bots

OpenAI has a big spam and policy violation problem in its GPT Store. The AI firm introduced its GPT Store in January 2024 as a place where users can find interesting and helpful GPTs, which are essentially mini chatbots programmed for a specific task. Developers can build and submit their GPTs to the platform and as long as they do not violate any of the policies and guidelines given by OpenAI, they are added to the store. However, it turns out the policies are not being followed stringently and many GPTs that appear to be violative of the regulations are flooding the platform.
