At UNSC, India slams Pakistan over support for cross-border terror

India on Tuesday strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), asserting that New Delhi has “every right” to defend itself against cross-border terrorism and warning Islamabad that there would be “consequences” for supporting terror activities directed at India. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Harish Parvathaneni, delivered the sharp response during a UNSC debate on “Upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the UN-centred international system.” The meeting was chaired by Wang Yi under China’s presidency of the 15-member Security Council for May. Pakistan’s ‘heinous acts’ of aggression no surprise from country bombing its own people, says India at UN

India highlighted Afghan civilian deaths and injuries caused by cross-border violence by Pakistani military forces, saying such “heinous acts” of aggression should not come as a surprise from a country that bombs its own people and conducts systematic genocide. In a strong retort at the UN Security Council on Wednesday, India called out Pakistan’s “long-tainted record” of genocidal acts after Islamabad’s envoy at the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir during a debate held during China’s presidency of the Council for May.
