The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday approved the resettlement of 136 families from the Bharthapur revenue village in Bahraich district. The Cabinet also decided that the new settlement would be named with the approval of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. (File Photo) Bharthapur village is geographically vulnerable, flanked by the Gerua river on one side and the Kaudiyala river on the other, with a wildlife area and the Nepal border to its north. The lack of road connectivity forces residents to rely entirely on boats for daily movement, exposing them to constant life-threatening risks. On October 29, 2025, nine people were killed in a boat accident in the Kaudiyala river. Following the incident, the chief minister conducted an aerial survey on November 2, 2025, met affected families and announced their relocation to a safer place. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday chaired a high-level meeting on setting up of a corporation — Uttar Pradesh Outsource Service Corporation (UPCOS) — to streamline labour entitlements and fair remuneration of outsourced workers in the administration. Last month, The Indian Express had reported that the Uttar Pradesh government was planning to set up a separate corporation to manage affairs of outsourced employees – from centralised hiring to looking after their financial and job security aspects, and ensuring reservation for the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and OBCs in contract employment. A proposal to this effect is to be tabled before the Cabinet for approval. It is estimated that there are over 11 lakh contractual employees working in its 93 departments of the state administration. 100% rebate on power bills for farmers’ tubewells: Ahead of LS polls, UP Cabinet clears major proposals | Lucknow News

In a move to woo farmers before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday cleared a proposal to provide 100 per cent rebate on electricity bills on tubewells used by farmers in rural as well as urban areas of the state. The decision is estimated to benefit 14.73 lakh beneficiaries in rural areas and 5,188 in urban areas. In other significant decisions, the Cabinet cleared the draft ordinance for the State Capital Region and other region development authorities, the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy and the next phase of Metro extension for Lucknow. “During elections, the BJP had announced 100 per cent rebate to farmers on the electricity bills of their private tubewells. In accordance with that, the state would provide 100 per cent rebate to farmers on their private tubewell electricity bills,” minister A K Sharma said.
