These online degrees are designed in high-demand fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data science, and other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.  They also offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fields like commerce and arts. Upskilling edtech firms like PhysicsWallah and Simplilearn have either launched a pilot into the segment or are planning to do so in the coming fiscal while existing players are strengthening their offerings. Physics Wallah Pvt. Ltd’s PW Skills, which initially introduced PW Institute of Innovation (PW IOI), a four-year residential programme in computer science, has now started rolling out programmes in partnership with colleges such as IIT Sirmaur and Patna, and other universities such as Lovely Professional University, Jain University, and Manipal University. While the company’s official website shows that these courses are open for admission, PhysicsWallah declined to comment on the subject. Simplilearn, on the other hand, has built a team to start forging new relationships with universities in India and abroad to offer long-term online degrees.  The company, which only offers certification programmes …

Global Chess League: How Magnus Carlsen blundered against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave to lose with white | Chess News

Magnus Carlsen sat on his seat looking up in the sky, muttering away. He could not believe what he had just done. It was a blunder from the five-time world champion which was unexpected and uncharacteristic in equal measure. It took a while to sink in for the Norwegian. But finally, Carlsen threw in the towel against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and exited the playing hall in a huff. What made matters worse was that his team, the Alpine SG Pipers, lost 5-14 to the upGrad Mumba Masters with defeats for Richard Rapport and Daniel Dardha. Rapport, in fact, allowed Pragg’s coach Peter Svidler — who had not experienced a win in his six games at the second edition of the Global Chess League — his first victory after two defeats and four draws. Only Praggnanandhaa managed a victory for the Pipers’, beating Vidit Gujrathi, his senior teammate from the Indian gold medal-winning Chess Olympiad team. The rest of the games in the clash — Hou Yifan vs Koneru Humpy and Kateryna Lagno vs Harika Dronavalli — …

Carlsen loses as upGrad Mumba Masters stun Sg Pipers

The match between Alpine Sg Pipers and Mumba Masters kicked off the action on the sixth day of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League. In season one both teams were in contention for the top places. While the Pipers have maintained their high-level performance in season two, the Mumba Masters have struggled. Mumba lost five matches—including a heavy 4-12 defeat to the Pipers earlier in the event—which has left them at the bottom of the standings. Alpine Sg Pipers had the initiative of the first move. The match started calmly, with a relatively quick draw on one of the women’s boards between Hou Yifan and Humpy Koneru. However, the tide soon turned dramatically against the Pipers. Magnus Carlsen made a critical blunder on the icon board, losing to Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Upset by his loss, Carlsen stormed out of the playing area, visibly shaken. In response, Pipers’ Praggnanandhaa delivered a fierce attack against Vidit’s Black king, securing a win and keeping the Pipers in the match. On the second superstar board, Peter Svidler – who up …

upGrad Mumba Masters Rebound as Ganges Grandmasters Stumble

Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand fell to former world blitz champion Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, as upGrad Mumba Masters secured a commanding 14-5 victory over Ganges Grandmasters on the second day of the Global Chess League. Both teams entered the match seeking their first win, having lost their opening games. Despite holding a stronger position, Anand made a costly blunder, allowing Vachier-Lagrave to turn the game around. The French blitz champion capitalized on the error, tightening his control and securing a vital win. The upGrad Mumba Masters, playing as Black, dominated the match, with a win on the youngsters’ board and a crucial draw on the second women’s board. Ganges Grandmasters struggled, with world number three Arjun Erigaisi managing only a draw against Vidit Gujrathi. Koneru Humpy’s win over Vaishali R sealed the match for upGrad Mumba Masters, and although Parham Maghsoodloo defeated Peter Svidler, it wasn’t enough to prevent Ganges from a 14-5 defeat. With back-to-back losses and another match with white pieces ending in defeat, Ganges Grandmasters face an uphill battle to stay in contention. …
