The latest indictment that names CC-1, the Indian intelligence official Vikash Gupta who was accused by the US of allegedly trying to kill pro-Khalistan separatist figure Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, details how he and Nikhil Gupta communicated between early May 2023 until June 30, 2023, when Gupta was arrested from Prague. US federal prosecutors have named Vikash Yadav as the intelligence official and charged him with “murder-for-hire and money laundering.” According to the fresh allegations, Yadav sent a particular cellphone application that records Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates and enables the user to take photographs (the “GPS Application”) to conduct surveillance on Pannun. Gupta then directed the confidential source (CS) to this app. The confidential source was working with US law enforcement and was contacted by Gupta at Yadav’s direction. This confidential source introduced Gupta to a purported hitman, who was in fact an undercover US law enforcement officer (UC).
