In a first, the US deployed Corsair unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in an attack on an Iranian structures. The armed maritime drones were used to strike a submarine and ship maintenance facility at Iran’s Bandar Abbas naval base on Sunday, the Pentagon said. Saronic Corsair vessels are built by Texas-based defence startup Saronic Technologies. (Saronic Technologies) Three Corsair sea drones carried out the attack, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The command also released footage showing one of the autonomous vessels speeding across the water towards a dock before detonating on impact. US Moves Largest B-2 Stealth Bomber Fleet, 3 Aircraft Carriers To Indo-Pacific

New Delhi: While the world was busy figuring out Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariff move and its fallout, the United States quietly made a massive military move in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region. The Pentagon ordered the largest-ever deployment of B-2 bombers in the Indian Ocean. Satellite images have shown at least six B-2 stealth bombers parked along the military base runway in Diego Garcia – a joint Indian Ocean military base of the US and Britain. There may be more in shelters or hangars impenetrable by satellite or radar. The United States has a total of 20 B-2 stealth bombers – the world’s most advanced military aircraft, of which six have now been deployed in the Indian Ocean Region – that’s roughly 30 per cent of its fleet, accounting for a massive strategic move. USS Zumwalt Stealth Destroyer to be Mounted Hypersonic Missiles for Long-Range Strikes: Report

USS Zumwalt Stealth Destroyer to be Mounted Hypersonic Missiles for Long-Range Strikes: Report

The USS Zumwalt, a stealth destroyer from the United States Navy, is undergoing upgrades to accommodate experimental hypersonic missiles under the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) programme. These missiles, capable of speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound, represent a significant advancement in non-nuclear warfare. According to reports, the enhanced capabilities will allow for precise and rapid strikes across vast distances, surpassing the range and effectiveness of conventional weaponry. What are Hypersonic Weapons? As per a report by AP News, Hypersonic missiles, designed to travel at speeds exceeding Mach 5—approximately 3,830 miles per hour—are engineered for speed and precision. Unlike ballistic missiles, CPS systems employ a hypersonic glide vehicle, capable of reaching Mach 8, or around 6,140 mph. Reports suggest that each Zumwalt-class destroyer will carry four launch tubes, each housing three of these advanced missiles. The system’s altitude capabilities further contribute to its effectiveness, with missiles reaching up to 50 miles above sea level to minimise air resistance. Defence experts noted in several statements that this high-altitude trajectory reduces drag and enhances speed, making …

Hours after US’ ‘final warning’, Houthis launch drone to attack ships | World News

An armed unmanned surface vessel launched from Houthi-controlled Yemen got within a “couple of miles” of US Navy and commercial vessels in the Red Sea before detonating on Thursday, just hours after the White House and a host of partner nations issued a “final warning” to the Iran-backed militia group to cease the attacks or face potential military action. They have, however, used them in years past. Wrap up the year gone by & gear up for 2024 with HT!
