A 32-year-old woman was killed and 20 others injured in two separate road accidents in Hardoi and Bahraich districts, police said on Wednesday. In Hardoi, the incident took place on Tuesday night when the driver of the bus travelling from Amethi district to Delhi lost control of the vehicle and overturned, according to PTI.  Harpalpur Circle Officer Satyendra Kumar Singh said the accident was allegedly caused after the driver dozed off while driving. Soon after receiving the information, local police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations, shifting all the injured passengers to a nearby hospital. Bus accident leaves one dead Upon reaching the hospital, doctors declared Shahar, 32, a resident of Raniganj Bazar in Amethi district, dead on arrival, police said. Odisha police arrest one person from Uttar Pradesh in connection with trafficking of minor girl

The Odisha police have arrested a man from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the trafficking and forcible marriage of a minor tribal girl. Authorities said that the investigation will be expanded to bring more individuals involved under its scope. The girl, lured with the promise of a job, was trafficked from Kankadahad area in Dhenkanal district to Jhansi by a middleman. In her complaint to Kamakshyanagar police station, she alleged that she was sold to two families in Jhansi and subjected to sexual assault by multiple men over a period of nearly two years. Police confirmed that Binay Patra, accused of sending the girl to Jhansi, had already been arrested earlier. The latest arrest is of Chandrapal Kushwah (26), who confessed to marrying the minor after spending ₹30,000 on the ceremony. “When the girl is a minor, the marriage’s legitimacy does not arise,” said Jitendra Mallick, Inspector-in-Charge of Kamakshyanagar police station. Two policemen were also injured in the attack, they added. The deceased, identified as Kamlesh Chaudhary, was killed in an encounter on Wednesday in Ghazipur. According to officers, a group of 100 people allegedly attacked the police personnel escorting the funeral procession and hurled stones at them, claiming that the encounter in which Chaudhary was killed had been staged. Additional police forces were rushed to the spot and succeeded in bringing the situation under control, officers said. Faced with the violence, some officers were forced to retreat to safer locations, police said. Following the incident, the body was transported to the cremation ground, where the final rites were conducted by the family members without further incident, officers added. Two minor boys booked for gang-raping nine-year-old Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh

A nine-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by two minor boys from her village in the Haldi area of Ballia district, police said on Tuesday. An FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by the girl`s father, a resident of a village under Haldi police station limits, they said. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly lured the girl with a bribe and sexually assaulted her on the evening of May 23 while she was grazing goats outside the village. The complaint also alleged that the accused used casteist slurs during the incident. Bairia Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Fahim Qureshi said that the two accused boys are 11 to 12 years old and were known to the girl. Based on the complaint, a case was registered on Monday against the two boys under Section 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), related to gang rape, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
