At least seven pilgrims sustained injuries after a bus carrying 25 passengers overturned on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway near Shivpuri in Uttarakhand’s Tehri district on Sunday, officials said, reported the PTI. The passengers were returning from Badrinath when the accident occurred. The vehicle was travelling towards Rishikesh when it met with the accident near the Kalthri dumping point, police said. According to police, the bus was carrying 25 passengers along with the driver Rajesh and conductor Sonu, both residents of Dehradun. Driver’s window allegedly opened Police said the driver’s window suddenly opened while the bus was in motion. In an attempt to close it, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn, as per the PTI. All the injured passengers, residents of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, were taken to Rishikesh District Hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable. Several people sustained injuries when a roadways bus fell into a ditch about 100 meters deep in Uttarakhand’s Nainital on Wednesday. The accident occurred in the Bhimtal region. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nainital, Prahlad Meena, confirmed that a relief team has been dispatched to the accident site. Rescue efforts are currently underway, with a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working in coordination with local police, firefighters, and local residents to assist those affected. “Today, on 25 December 2024, information was received from the District Control Room, Nainital that a roadways bus has crashed near Bhimtal, on which the rescue teams of SDRF have left for the spot from Post Nainital and Khairna,” SSP Nainital Prahlad Meena said. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief. Six people died a horrific death in a car accident in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun earlier this week as they were returning from a party. The incident took place around 1.30 am at the ONGC Chowk on November 12 when the car they were in collided with a truck, reducing their vehicle to a mangled wreck. A disturbing video of the incident is doing rounds on social media which shows the impact of the collision was so strong that it tore off the Toyota Innova’s roof and twisted it. Two passengers were left decapitated in the incident. The visuals also show one of the victim’s head ripped off, while another person’s body can be seen twisted inside the crushed car. Several other body parts of the victims are also seen scattered around the road. According to media reports, a group of seven friends were returning from a party that night and were drunk.
