Priests performing rituals to the idol of ‘Chakrathalwar’ before its immersion in the ‘pushkarini‘ in connection with the Vaikunta Dwadasi celebrations on Wednesday. The hill temple of Lord Venkateswara witnessed a surge of devotional activity on Wednesday as scores of pilgrims took a holy dip in the temple ‘pushkarini’ on the eve of ‘Dwadasi Chakrasnanam’, a significant ritual associated with the Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations. In the early hours of the day, the idol of Lord Chakrathalwar was taken out in a traditional procession to Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy temple, located on the north-western side of the ‘pushkarini’, where the priests performed the ‘Chakrasnanam’ in accordance with established temple rituals, amid chanting of Vedic hymns. Devotees, who had already congregated at the venue, immediately plunged into the ‘pushkarini’ as the priests ceremonially immersed the idol into the tank waters. The town remained gripped in festive atmosphere and milled with pilgrim activity since the wee hours of the day as the celebrations succeeded the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival the previous day. Naidu | Photo Credit: File Photo The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is making arrangements on a large scale to ensure that devotees have a peaceful ‘Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam’ at the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala for 10 days from January 10, says its Chairman B.R. Naidu. Mr. Naidu reviewed the arrangements being made by the TTD, municipal, and police officials at the Ramachandra Pushkarini on January 4, 2025 (Saturday). Addressing the media later, the TTD Chairman said, “The devotees are advised to exercise restraint. All arrangements are being made to facilitate them ‘Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam’ for 10 days. We have made arrangements to issue 1.20 lakh tokens at 90 counters in Tirupati and four counters in Tirumala from 5 a.m. on January 9 for darshan on January 10, 11 and 12.” The tokens would be issued in Tirupati at Indira Maidanam, Ramachandra Pushkarini, Srinivasam Complex, Vishnu Nivasam Complex, Bhudevi Complex, Ramanaidu High School at Bhairagipatteda, and ZP High Schools at MR Palli and Jeevakona respectively, and at Balaji Nagar Community Hall …

The Vaikunta Dwaram of the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will remain open for devotees from January 10 to January 19. | Photo Credit: File Photo The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced that online tickets for the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan at the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will be available for booking from 11 a.m. on December 23, while the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan (SED) tickets will be available online from 11 a.m. on December 24. The Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) tokens, widely availed of by the common pilgrims, will be distributed at Kousthubham Guesthouse in Tirumala and eight designated counters in Tirupati. The auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi will be celebrated at the Tirumala temple on January 10, 2025 and the Vaikunta Dwaram, the inner-most passage encircling the sanctum sanctorum, will remain open for devotees from January 10 to January 19. Soon after the completion of the pre-dawn rituals and other temple formalities, the idol of Lord Chakrathalwar was carried in a grand procession to the temple of Lord Bhu Varaha Swamy where the priests observed the customary ritual. Devotees, who had already congregated on the steps of the tank, waited for the moment and took a bath as soon as the idol was immersed in the tank. There was no respite in the visiting devotees who thronged the town for the Vaikunta dwara darshan for the second consecutive day. Meanwhile, the offline tokens for Vaikunta dwara darshan, which were being made available at 50,000 a day at TTD counters in Tirupati, remained exhausted till January 6 and tokens for the following day issued.
